I had to separate the problem thread from the story thread. See why? Couldn't pother General Hardware with the whole story unless they needed convincing so a link to this will do.

Hmm, I work a security job and sometimes I bring my laptop in to study on my 12hr weekend shifts. I've always been told that I could, but keep it discreet. Everyone is allowed to read the paper, plot stocks, read books, etc etc so I consider what I do more productive than most. The big-wig hot-shot facility manager guy (Head over a lot more than security) is a BIG asshole. One time he exploded because I didn't call him to tell him that the cafeteria workers didn't arrive (Security has nothing to do with them. Do we call everyone else's boss when their employees don't show up? NO!). There was almost 1 inch of ice over every road in mid to North Georgia that day and the ENTIRE building was empty (Remember a few days before the Superbowl in Atlanta? On TV, I heard a report from Eddie (The comedian) where he called "Hot-lanta" a bold faced lie because it was colder than any sh** he'd ever been in. Most people had trees blocking their highways, streets, or in the yard smashing their vehicles :( Of course the place was dead. He should have exploded IF I called to bother him with that kind of sh**. He was actually exploding because he couldn't get his morning biscuit.

Anyway, he saw me with my brother using our laptop today (Programing on the midnight shift) then came back and saw it folded on the desk on my shift. It wouldn't have been an issue, except he dug around a little and found a DVD on the counter. !@!#! My brother was supposed to look up the eBay selling price on it for a neighborhood kid. It wasn't mine. I wasn't watching it. He asked me what it was. I said "Oh, that's some neighborhood kid's property" then he interrupted me to ask where my boss was so he could talk to him about selling a car. So I didn't get to say I wasn't watching it. :(

He's walked in on another guy using a laptop before. Actually, the the crew had wheeled a TV in and they were watching something they recorded off of Television. They closed the doors when they did it (NOT NORMAL). When Mr. Facility Manager peeks his head in, looks around seeing an open laptop on the counter and a TV at the door he just says "This is nice" (sarcastically, and noticeably threatening) then leaves. Everyone heard about it in the next security update, because he "caught them playing computer games on the TV" (Even though the TV was across the room). Anyway, what scares me is that the door was closed when he walked in on my brother! It wasn't his doing. He wasn't the one who closed it. He didn't know it was close. But it looks VERY suspicious. There's no reason to close it unless your hiding something, and he has no idea how it got closed. I'm sure he'll put two and two together just like he combined the laptop and TV in the previous incident. He's gonna say we were watching movies which is absolutely untrue.

Now, here's my one saving grace. A couple months ago, I scored some points on this guy by checking out his office computer when he had a problem. He was unusually polite, and thanked me. Even asked me my name (I've only been working here for almost three years). Asked me some questions about school. Then I find out from my boss, who the guy is friends with, that the guy was "impressed with his employee." My boss said he thought very highly of me. Hmm. Maybe he doesn't remember the cafeteria thing?

Now, he knows I do computer work as a second job and for others in the building. One of my other bosses had a PC problem a long time ago that he asked my brother to look at. My brother couldn't fix it. My brother and I laugh about it all the time because everyone here thinks that that guy is the one to go to for computer advice! He even has a flyer for his "Quik Chip Microcomputing" business on the bulletin board here

This is one of those guys that puts a password on everything just because he can (And puts on Comet Cursor, Hotbar, and all the other crap). He calls himself a computer professional. He gave my brother and a couple others the password, but changed it after he realized that other people knew it too. I "overheard" the new password. On Wednesday this week, he asked me to take a crack at it. To get his "sanctioning" I told him there wasn't much I could do without the CMOS password but he continued explaining the problem like I didn't need it (Which I didn't ;)). He ended the conversation by asking me too look at it on my shift. That's "sanctioning" enough for me. I'll pretend that I have 1337 techniques when he asks how I fixed it ;) (This is an intrusion sensing business PC which has no removable battery). Now, when the hailstorm starts I plan on telling him exactly what I was doing: Working on a "work" computer for my boss. I really was going to take a look at it and I really was going on AT to post a question about it (He delayed me and it turned into this). And I want it to be working and I want to have praise backing me up from the other boss. It is the only way I see to play my cards.

DUH

Apparantly, you didn't see this at the top:

(Link coming when I post the other thread)

It took something like 15 seconds because I had it all layed out.

When you make a reply, try to have a point (Couldn't resist the sarcasm) :D

There is no CMOS jumper. It's a corporate computer with intrusion detection and NO onboard battery or CMOS jumper to short. I sneaked the CMOS password (Nothing illegal, but don't ask).

It's only for those that want the details of why I'm in a jam. In other words, those who WANT to read it. :D

Thnx and already replied in the other thread.
