You definitely need to send them an e-mail or get in touch, sounds like something is wrong.

I never had a problem with Impulse or Steam. Impulse has always been good to me just as Steam has, so I guess I'm just lucky.

But I'm loyal to my fellow gamers first than any company, and quoting Joker from Mass Effect 2, "I don't trust anyone who makes more money than I do". Let us know how things go; I would be royally pissed myself to have an entire weekend gone without being able to play a game I paid for... especially one as fun as Mass Effect 2.

I emailed them on Friday. No response yet, support doesn't work weekends.

I've Googled and this is an extremely common problem. Tons of people are in the same boat :(... it gets resolved after 2-3 days. Great, waste of time.

They might have just sold so many they ran out of license keys.

IIRC, that happens from time to time. They only allocate so many at a time and it takes time to get more.

Try posting here: http://forums.stardock.com/

It seems to be the best way to get support over the weekend.

I apologize for not posting it earlier, but I don't usually surf the internet on the weekends, and didn't think about how I managed to solve a similar problem over the weekend.

You can also try to reach them on Internet Relay Chat (IRC) during the EST work day. Go here:

I called them today. She said someone would look into it for me today, but the business day is over now for them and I still don't have a game. This is ridiculous.

This worked. I found a nice guy named Rosco who figured out what the problem was. With Paypal orders if it's flagged as possible fraud it automatically deletes the order after 24 hours unless their employees manually review the order.

Of course since it was a weekend, no employees reviewed the record and it deleted my purchase automatically.

They are aware of the problem. He said they had a meeting this morning about this very problem.

Since the sale was over, I couldn't repurchase for the $29.99 sale price. Fortunately Rosco totally understood and whipped up a one time use coupon for me to match the sale price :)

Overall, having to go to IRC to hunt down support employees is EXTREMELY amateur. That being said, the support I got in the end was excellent.

I'll try Impulse again... but only if there's a good sale.

EDIT: Oh good. more problems. It thinks 32GB is not enough free HDD space for Mass Effect 2. Ugh. Of course it's enough space.

EDIT 2: I was able to fix this by forcing it to write archives to my second HDD. What if I didn't have a second HDD? What an awful platform.

you can't really complain about that platform... that's just how you install software. if you don't have the installer on a disk... you're obviously going to have to download it.

it's not impulse's fault you only have 32GB free.

edit: just looked at the impulse page. kinda misleading... states the download size as just under 10gb... game requires 15gb. they should let you know they're archived files first.

Yeah. Steam would fit the game just fine, archives and all. Impulse's download method is a piece of shit. Less than 10GB = 32GB of space required to install? wtf.

Also might want to try their IRC channel during weekdays. I had a problem with DAO/Bioware servers with DLC, they resolved it within 30 minutes and gave me a new cd-key as well.

Basically, Impulse downloads the game into a compressed single file. Then it extracts it afterwards, this is why you are having issues. If you have another drive, I would recommend you download it to there.

pretty sure D2D works the same way... you download a rar/zip. what you extract out of that is the installer for the game.
