Improving Home Wifi Signal

I am having some issues in my home with my wifi signal. I just recently relocated my modem/router to a more central location and it improved the signal considerably, but there are areas of the home where the signal is poor. In my old network setup, I had a bridge setup but the speed was not great. I am wondering what my options are? I have an ASUS RT-N65U router, if that helps.

Lay a cable get a second Wireless Router and use it as an Access Point, or http://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-UniFi.../dp/B005H4CDF4

The following is Not intended to the OP in specific but is a general comment.

If One can not find a way to lay a cable in the 21st century then it seems that it is written above that One should Not have Good Wireless service in his domicile.

There are many way to deal with additional cable and stay architectural ok, the word is Imagination as oppose to wasting time on Drama Queening.

So running a new cable is not an option. The home is about 7,000 square feet and I need to get signal to the basement. The router/modem are on the first floor.

What if I used a powerline adapter and ran it to the access point?

It would go WAN --- ROUTER---POWERLINE----ACCESS POINT

Would that work?

It should work. Just depends on your residential power wiring. Do you have coax anywhere near the router and access point? If so try MoCA adapter, it would likely work better than powerline.

Also...slight correction, I believe you mean running a new cable is not a viable option. Its always an option and not always as difficult as you'd think with mild creativity.
