Improve my back posture...please

I have been sitting at a computer for the majority of the past 15 years.

I have developed a pretty bad arch in my lower back from hunching over the computer.

I have been trying for the last 6 months to remedy this.

My main approach has been to request (and have recieved) and ergonomic chair at my workplace.

I also try to simply make an effort to sit straight with my but poked out a little bit.

Unfortunately I still find myself hunching over most of the time.

What can I do ?

exercise...especially running....run and mile a day at least and make sure ur back is straight the whole time...after a whilke it will feel natural

I have similar back posture (and pain) problems...and I'm trying to improve my posture now. But I have not bought / done anything special -- just trying to be very aware of my posture and constantly straighten my back, no matter how much less comfortable it is. ; )

What kind of ergonomic chair did you get? URL/Pic by any chance? I might look into one of those for home, depending on price....

I have the same problem

I am currently looking for some kind of support brace that will force me into having better posture.

Anyone know of any good products?

I had the same problem and found out that it was my bed causing the problem. I had this cheapass mattress and every morning i woke up still feeling stiff and with a throbbing lower backpain.

So I bought a 1500 bedspring/mattress combination and now I feel great!!

execrise your back, if you can go to the gym, and get the trainer to show you how to preform certain back execrises, this will strengthen your back and as you are doing that you will be able to sit up straight much longer.

Do you usually sleep in the fetal position by chance? Becuase many nightly back pains can be greatly reduced by also placing a pillow between the knees.

If you have a gym that you can go to, try working on your back (weighted back extensions), abs, and obliques. If you firm up the muscles in this area it should help your posture. Assuming it's not some kind of spinal problem. 😕

It has helped my slouching posture quite a bit, though I've been slacking off a bit recently. 🙁

I should try that out... I sleep like that and pretty much every morning I have lower back pain for a little while after I get up.

Do Yoga 2 to 3 times a week. Back when I was taking classes when I was done I felt a foot taller just because I wasn't slouching.
