Impromptu visit from the business unit VP today.. (update 2)

I work at a smaller remote site for a very large company, and about half of the employees at the site work for this VP. A reorg was planned for last month, but was postponed...I'm thinking it is not a good sign that he is here unannounced, and setting up a meeting for this afternoon.

Wish us luck.

Update: Meeting is scheduled for 4pm (MTN) today. Another BU's director is on site as well, and rumor is that his entourage has been going cube to cube and offering those people severance packages. No one from our group has been talked to yet.

Have not decided whether the 4-5 meeting is a good time or a bad time.

Update2: Looks like we're OK. Our director got the axe, saw him get escorted out. Almost every member of the other director's team got a package, unsure whether the entire team + manager is getting cut. My manager has lunch and dinner scheduled with the VP, along with several other managers. I'm guessing that we're reporting to someone else and that the meeting at 4 is to sum up the days events.

can you tweet us with updates during the meeting?

"vp says hello, lol his tie is ugly and he is crosseyed, l o l - this line for bigmacs sure is long"

well at least its not on a Friday...end of the day Friday meetings are a death knell for the whole company
end of day Tuesday meetings = someone is getting a promotion, some units are being consolidated, while there are some cutbacks/layoffs coming

Glad you made it ok!
