Hello ATOT Chicago folks! Spring has sprung, the weather is nice and it's time to have another ATOT Meet. It's a bit impromptu as it's happening this Friday, but who doesn't like to be spontaneous and do things on the spur of the moment? If you don't, stay home 😀

iamwiz82 and LolaWiz are in town this week; iamwiz82 PM'd me yesterday asking directions, and also asked that I keep their presence in town a secret - to not let anyone know that they're here. Against their wishes I have done the polar opposite and organized this gathering for all of us to give them a Chicago welcome 😀

Let's meet this Friday, 7:00pm at the Gino's East at 8725 west Higgins Road. Here is the address. If you're traveling on I-90, exit onto Cumberland Avenue northbound. Turn left onto Higgins (first lights after you exit) and take Higgins west. After the Al's/Nancy's there is an intersection, turn left at these lights and go past the parking garages. All of them? This is the second one this year, and Chicago ATOT meets are long overdue. We couldn't get one together last year, and maybe the year before either.
 
i'm not anywhere near chicago, so i wont' be there. it's just the gino's east that made me post here.

there is another gino's east? i thought the one downtown near water tower place was the only one?

when did they build a second gino's east? of course i haven't been anywhere near chicago for like 12 yrs.

I know of a third one at Lincoln and Diversey. There are plenty listed here:

the one on Michigan and Superior is the one i was thinking of, the Orginal Gino's East and the only one there was back in the day. hehehe, i went to school near chicago in the mid 80's.

the original Gino's would be sweet...as it's a mere block form where I work. I'll probably be working late Friday too, but not so late that it would prevent me from wandering over early and getting drunk before any others showed up 🙂

Anyhoo, I'll do my darndest to show up. May depend on my ability to mooch a ride off of Platypus or K1052 (my car having been street-parked since November and completely dead), or my not being in Wisconsin Friday night.
 
Z, give me a call or something, would you be able to grab a metra up north? I'm pretty close to ohare for work so I could swing by the train station and get you and then later I can take you back via car or something, we'll figure it out.

that is what i mean though... I long for Detroit to be at least 1/2 of what Chicago is. It makes me sad to see all these people walking around at night everywhere here and back home, once the sun goes down, you best be in your car.
Detroit has some great venues and eats but nothing like Chicago.

Yep. I like downtown a lot.

Wish I could come to the meet and see you guys but my plane gets into Midway about the time of the meet so maybe next time.
