I have it running around 35-40 fps according to Fraps @ 2560x1600 maxed 4x AA on my HD 4890.

I've found for racing games, 30+ fps is just fine for smoothness, at least for me anyway.

It's widespread but doesn't affect every ATi machine, which is strange.

Loving this game, just did two laps of the full Nurburgring in the RX-8 against two other players. Fun! First lap alone was over 9 minutes long...

I had to turn off all of the vehicle assists before it started feeling 'normal' to me, though. All that stuff, traction control...etc. is terrible in this game.

Anyone tried running this on a 9600GT? If so, what settings are you running? Friend of mine is reporting some weird stuttering when playing online, but it's not latency and his frame-rate seems fine (30+). 1680x1050, 2xaa, mostly medium settings, textures on high. C2D @2.93Ghz, 4GB, Win7 latest drivers.

This game can be fun but is more often than not, maddeningly frustrating. The force feedback for my Logitech Momo FF wheel keeps getting disabled randomly for no reason...works on some tracks sometimes and not on others.

Some of the car physics is downright weird.....some cars handle as if they're on a sled, understeering into the guardrail even at 30 mph on easy corners. And there are some cars that bounce badly on the track in the invitational races...especially the carrera GT at Spa and the Veyron at the 'ring. No options for tweaking either!

The collision physics is utter rubbish. AI cars literally fly up into the air, crash into the track, bounce around and then continue as if nothing happened. If you ram a car from behind, you can actually make it slide backwards *over* your own car lol...happened with my Works Murcielago at Spa earlier today.

Then there's the crazy AI that spins you out for no reason, and can be hyper-agressive. That's a really bad design decision in a game that is supposed to be about precision driving. In general, the AI is pretty dumb.

The vinyls customization is a PITA...can't see the whole car during customization, and cannot mirror the vinyls on the other side!

Ofcourse, since it's a console port, the menu system sucks the donkey's proverbials.

NFS:Shift could have been a great game, but ultimately ends up in the dustbin of mediocrity due to to the frequently poor gameplay, bad design elements, and numerous bugs.

Damn.. I hadn't read the thread before my rant in the previous post; now I see that mwmorph had made a very similar post earlier in the thread. Could have saved myself some typing lol..

Well, first things first, this game is unplayable with a keyboard. When steering at high speeds, the car will often go into a sideways slide almost instantly. I know I should at least get a xbox 360 gamepad. But I'm afraid that if I do, the steering will still suck. Also, performance sucks on my HD 4890. I actually tried a HD 5870, still sucked. AMD is aware of this problem and hopefully the developers will patch the game. Maybe I'll pop in a GTX280 or something similar though, should have one somewhere around here anyways.

If I can fix the steering, there's only 2 gripes I have about the game, and they have allready been mentioned. Weird, way to agressive AI (or stupid AI) and the weird physics, cars flying into the air. I can live with both though. Pretty much everything else is pretty sweet. Also, the steering issue seems to affect me less when in cockpit-mode, but it still stops me from playing for more then 2 races.

The game doesn't run at a perfect 60fps for me(I think it should based on how good it looks) but it doesn't run terribly either, always over 40fps.

I'm enjoying this game a lot, if they can fix the performance issued it'll be great :)

I tried it with an xbox controller first, but it's not easy to make precision turns with it. A wheel+pedals setup is still the best option IMHO. When the FF is active, and the physics also works, handling is very decent with the wheel.

BTW, I play it on the system in my sig, at 1920x1200, 4xa, 16xaf, and everything turned up; runs between 35 - 60 fps with > 45 fps most of the time...perfectly playable.
