i'm gonna be changing the primary harddrive in my current system from a wd raptor 150gb to a corsair force F120gb.

my computer has 2x 1.5 tb drives in software (dynamic disks) raid1.

it also has a single 500 gb drive, but let's ignore that. all drives will go back into the machine at the end of the day.

anyways, i want to install and boot off the new SSD. i'm gonna be doing a fresh install of windows. after i get the new ssd installed and stabilized, i'm gonna plug back in the other drives. (except for the raptor.) after i get the other drives all installed and working, i'm gonna plug back in the raptor and reformat it with ubcd.

anyways, my main source of worry is the raid array. i've been looking for how to import dynamic disks on google, but i'm coming up short for my particular situation. specifically dynamic disks WITH a raid array.

anyone wanna tell me everything's gonna be okay? some experiences to note? things to watch out for?

When you plug your disks back in, Windows will see them as a foreign disk that you need to import. After importing, the array will be back as normal. It's pretty hard to screw up, especially with RAID 1.

If you're concerned about data loss, I'd break the mirror and only plug in one drive, leaving you with a backup on your other drive if things go south.

well, things did go south.

when i imported the array, it said something about parity failed. I told it to resync the array, and it said something else.

I'm currently backing up all data on the array before I start trying again.

unfortunately, during the night the robocopy prompt i left up got stuck on a particular file. "the parameter is incorrect. the parameter is incorrect. the parameter is incorrect".
