It's for certain, #3, i.e. impeached but not removed, only because 60% of the Senate has to vote to convict, which won't happen because Republicans lack integrity.

I thought this was about the recent poll that shows Americans evenly divided, 50 for 50 against, which is sickening. I don't want to know anyone who thinks Trump should remain "president" of the USA.

Option 3 is the safe bet. Republicans have made their bed with the obstruction and abuse of power are Not-A-Big-Deal™ argument and they're in way too deep.

Somewhere out there is a Bill Clinton thinking "So I could have just told Congress and the Special Prosecutor to go fuck themselves?"

It looks like McConnell will move to aquit Trump, not just dismiss charges.

That would be the better poll, what's the spread on the Senate vote, and who's taking the over/under

Ohhh I like this idea. I think my early line would be an over/under of repubs voting against Trump at 8.5?

It will be 0 and Republicans/conservatives/independents will justify it as "well Democrats did the same thing for Clinton." Our system of checks and balances will be dead. If voters kick him out in 2020 (a big if) and if he leaves without a fuss (another big if) it is time for the gloves to come off. If Democrats get control it will be time to go scorched earth.

I don't think it will be zero. 8.5 probably way too high and I'm being optimistic. :(

I mean look at this list of clowns and see if you can pick out 8 or 9 that will vote to convict. I think possibly Romney and Murkowski, and maybe Collins in a bid to save her seat.

I'll also add that the messaging between now and the election for Dems should be one thing and one thing only: Republicans are obstructing the will of the voters. Voters put Dems in charge of the House, and Republicans are blocking x number of Bills, blocking the power of their representatives to limit the power of the President to break the law, and packing the courts. If you want to preserve your voice at the ballot box you must give Democrats full control to fix this shit permanently.

The take on why the Repubs are blindingly supporting the most incompetent, corrupted, morally bankrupt, adulterous, compromised-by-Russians "president" we've ever had the displeasure of tolerating:

Better to have the nation go up in flames (like it is right now) by the Repubs due to their belief that in some unexplained, unjustified, emotionally driven indoctrinated kind of way it's what the Democrats will do if Trump ever gets ousted by decree or by the ballot.

After eight years of progress under the Obama administration of which Trump and the Repubs are the direct beneficiaries and abusers thereof, you'd think the rank and file Repubs would wise up to the kind of fairy tales they've been sold by their very wealthy masters and realize how they've been royally played into perpetual servitude by people exactly like that deranged president they've given up their souls to.

Like I said in the first thread. Trump could rape and murder Mitch McConnell's wife on the floor of the Senate live on CSPAN and maybe 1 or 2 Republicans votes would switch to removal from office at MOST. And no, I don't think Mitch would be one of those 2.

You would get 2 votes for removal and a half dozen or so furrowing their brows and saying his behavior was 'very concerning'.

I voted Impeached and quits/resigns.

He will get impeached, but he will walk away unscathed. Either the GOP protects him tooth and nail or he just tells everyone to fuck off and he leaves.

I do see him becoming President again. The GOP has been running a pretty successful game of election fraud (from Bush Jr, to gerrymandering, to rejecting preventive measures of election fraud and tampering, to voter suppression).

I would also go as far as saying he will indeed stay longer than 2 terms.

The GOP is crooked, evil and treasonous.
