Edit: I bought a 3200 from ZZF. $190 shipped. Not bad. I'll post my results once I get my system up and running.

Okay, that's it.

I've waited for 3 weeks for my CPU now and today it seems like Venice is now not going to be available... again. It could be up to 3-4 weeks before we can get it, right?

So I've got the components for a great overclocker (DFI NF4 UT-D, OCZ VX, Zalman 7000CU) - what's my best chance of getting a good O/Cer Winchester? I've been hearing about reduced success in overclocking Winchesters, as of recently so I'm a little wary.

I'm either looking at a 3000 or a 3200.

So... which do I get? I see that ZZF has a 3200 for $180, shipped. Is that my best bet?
Do you have one (that overclocks well) you don't want that you want to sell me?

Thanks!

If you do buy new spend another $10 and get the boxed version, gives you a warrantty at least.

Same problem here dude. Can anyone tell us the place where to find which week Winchesters from 2005 are good overclockers? I can buy a 2005 week 4 3000+ CBBID here in Pakistan. What are the ratings as far as oc'ing goes for that?

That is a good idea. Last thing I need is a CPU that craps out after a few months and I'm screwed )

But.. part of the reason to go with a cheap one now is that later, down the road, when the dual-core chips come out and I can flash my bios to accomidate them (crosses fingers), I might want to upgrade if the performance benefit is sufficiently compelling. So maybe longevity isn't a huge concern.

Even still, you are right - buy the retail version

I'm not looking at paying a ton over retail.. What do you expect for it? I won't be watercooling it - I've got a nice air cooling setup

And I just ordered it. I did some research on the other posts on this forum and some others. I think I'll roll the dice... if I get screwed, maybe I'll come back in the fall and buy me a dual core, if I find I need it.
