Many STATES have CLOSED Primaries!

What does this mean???
(Example)
It means if you are NOT REGISTERED REPUBLICAN,
You will NOT be able to vote for a republican in the PRIMARY election.

If your candidate Does NOT Win the Primary, he will NOT be running
for President.

So this is VERY IMPORTANT to understand, and I know many of you do, but I will explain anyway for those who are missing this point.

In NEW YORK for example, YOU NEED To CHANGE your
registration to REPUBLICAN by October 12, 2007, or you can?t vote in the Primary Election

Other states have different dates, but you must find out when that date is right away if you live in a Closed Primary State!
Don?t put this off people. This is the most important thing to focus on right now!

Call your county Board of Elections or just go there to change your registration.

If you are an independent, a Libratarian, a Constitution Party member or a Democrat, you must change to Republican right
away or you will NOT be able to vote in the Primary Election
if you are in a CLOSED Primary State.
!!!!! NEW HAMPSHIRE DEADLINE IS ALSO IN TWO WEEKS !!!!!!!
Please get this word out to ALL who want to support XXXXXXX.
And to anyone who you want to get to vote for XXXXXXX.
After the Registration Deadlines it will be too late.

Re-register NOW! Do it Now! It should be the First Priority!

PS. Many sites have confusing information.
CALL your Local County Board of Elections to find out for sure.
Even info posted on this thread has incorrect dates.

Ummmm I think you have crossed the line between posting an opinion and instead posted an advertisement for the Ron Paul campaign.

It is one thing to mention the deadlines to people, it is another to advocate people change their party so they can vote for YOUR candidate.

Which is why the entire OP talks about changing over to Republican?

BTW the most popular current thread has under a 1000 views... just how many voters are you going to reach via ATPN?

Give up the Ron Paul for Prez thing on here and just enjoy the site as a place to talk about politics and news events.

ProfJohn, forgive my loud chuckle at your concern for his post being too partisan for the republican party. I like the new you in this thread:)

California has an open primary system, for better or worse (probably for worse, since crossover voters seem mostly up to mischief, to sabotage the other party's candidate).

Better look again.

California has adopted a Modified Closed Primary system which restricts voters affiliated with a political party to the choice of candidates of that political party. Under California law, political parties may determine whether to allow non-partisan voters (who declined to state a political party affiliation when they registered to vote) the opportunity to cast a ballot for their party?s candidates.

Thanks for the clarification and update. In the past we've had one; now, I don't know what the parties have decided to do.

Since I'm a democrat who votes only in the democratic primary so far (no intent to do otherwise, but never say never), it hasn't been too much an issue.

No, you and your ilk have an agenda which is no secret around here. This information does not apply to everyone, except for some fringe lunatics, who support agendas, such as yours. Find a new beat.

FYI this information is for everyone period. States change their laws and this year this is particularity true. This information is not always communicated properly to the public as has already been proven in this thread.

Fringe lunatics? Your ilk (kind)? Isn't that a personal attack?

As for the information in this thread, thank you Perry404, I didn't know they had changed the laws. I will be registering :)

open primaries never made sense to me... why would a democrat vote in the republican primary or vice versa?

being an independent just gives me an excuse to stay home on the day of the NJ primary :p though maybe I should change to balance out my dad's absurd plan to vote for john edwards...

First time voting perry404? To anyone who has followed or been active in politics knows this. But yeah, I suppose the RP nuts need some help getting up to speed on election procedures.

Criminies what are people so afraid of? Over 50% of Americans don't vote. We are at a crucial juncture in American history. I never knew voter information could be so threatening.

Ron Paul supporters need to be spamming the local Elk's clubs, the PTA meetings, and wal-marts. That's where your voters are whose minds you need to change, not on the internets.

I'm not afraid of RP or his followers. My comments were in regards to why you think it's necessary to make this out to be something radical and/or new.

Why do you keep bringing up Ron Paul? Yes I've posted Ron Paul threads. What does that have to do with this thread?
By the way thanks for the bumps. It's important to get this info out.:)

Actually UNDER 50% of American's don't vote in Presidential elections. In the last 12 presidential elections, with the exception of 49.1% in 1996 (reelection of a very popular incumbent), turnout has ranged from 50% to 63%.

Well your sig isn't exactly candidate neutral. Combine that with your threads and motives are called into question.

Because his supporters seem to be the least informed about how politics and the process works.

Plus the OP looks like a copy/paste from an RP spam mail/posting

If that argument were true(not saying it is) what then? We shouldn't educate them?
They shouldn't vote?
