none here.

Edit: there was just a HUGE march up Wisconsin Ave (the main drag here down town) over the lunch hour. I watched from the corner office :)

seems like every hispanic person took off of work at my office today, despite the fact that they're all legal or were born in america.

meanwhile, the people who I'm pretty sure *are* illegal -- the vallets at the office parking garage, the guys in the kitchen where I got lunch from today, etc -- are all at work.

Heh. This just goes to show how ignorant the people in our country are. All these latinos have their panties in a wad cause they think the US is anit-immigration, when in fact we are anti-illegal-immigration. The US allows more people to become naturalized citizans than most other places in the world.

Most of the Hispanic people I know are pissed about all this walk-out crap. They are against illegal immigration. And the one I work with is here today.

I just know that traffic was awesome today without the work trucks with 15 Mexicans in them :D

Less drivers that are more likely to be insured!

well you are a bit missinformed as to the walk out. the legal hispanics are walking out in order to show support to the unprotected, and exploited "illegal" worker. they have no rights, and no way to fight back at injustice in any level. thus most illegals can't walk out of their jobs because of fear of retaliation by their employers.

edit::::also this is about immigration, alot of asians are backing up this walk out. not only hispanic.

There is no injustice. Why can't you and the others understand that?

due to the nature of our business, we have no "undocumented" workers here.
everyone is documented and legal

I passed a Carolla with 9 mexicans in it on the way into work this morning. I wanted to roll down the window and offer them some side work just to see if they'd take it, but my son told me not to.

I was going to correct him too, but I figured I;d leave his statement stand.
I also love how everyone just assumes its Hispanics and plays that angle.

We have a few Hispanics here (no Asian etc) and I asked them why they are here today and not walking out.... they just laughed.

yip, 1.5 million each year become citizens the legal way. I applaud them for that.

when you see the poverty and the way some of these people live and are treated. then you see the injustice. people here get paid 40 bucks a week to work as a maid. these people are treated like dirt and work 24/7 (plus they have to pay for their own expenses such as food, and sometimes housing) or the people who work at the fields harvesting, getting paid pennies an hour here in the good old USA. plenty of examples, and these people are treated badly and are told if they say anything they will report them to immigration and get thrown back into their country and be unemployed.

This statement is so freaking backwards and as you can tell it goes a long way towards pissing me off. I hope you are just saying what the point of the walk out is and not actually making the statement because you actually believe it.

They should have NO rights. Injustice? They are illegal! And as for retaliation by their employers... I wish we could export the people who hire the illegals but that's just me. :p

BTW, I am for legal immigration. If these people have a problem at home that drives them to the US for work then they need to lead some sort of revolt in Mexico instead of coming here and protesting. Also, on the subject of protests, I think any Mexican illegal who waves the Mexican flag during their protest needs to be immediately deported.

lets not dwelve into the P&N world ok... but since you did, I will comment on it. What really needs to be done, is much harsher punishments for those companies here that exploit and employ the illegals. Right now they get nothing but a slap on the wrist... if they are even caught.
