IMing at Work - How do you end your conversations...

Do you let them taper off, say 'later' or some other response... or does it depend. Too many options for a poll, just curious what people use.

I generally say ttyl or something to that effect. Although some people will keep typing forever though so I have to just not respond after a while of 'closing remarks'.

I hate how MSN Messenger just shows up everywhere automatically after installing Windows. And AIM is just...well...too cartoonish.

And...just depends on the conversation or what takes me back to work...sometimes I say nothing at all and just set my away status to At Work

Well, if I'm talking to my wife on AIM (easier than calling me and tying up my phone) we usually wrap things up normally.

If I'm talking on AIM with my co-worker in the next cubicle over about the website redesign we're working on together, generally things just taper off for a while then pick up again unless one of us leaves for the day, lunch, etc.

if its someone I enjoy talking to i'll let them go as if I were talking to them on the phone, other wise I just log off.
