Thought I would share my experience with an imei swap service I bought on ebay. Not only do they fix your blacklisted imei the phone will be unlocked as well, nice added bonus. There are several places that do it on ebay and for all kinds of phones, this is the one I used. I choose this one since they had great feedback and they actually have a physical store in their town

I had bought an Att Galaxy S5 that I knew had a bad imei for a really cheap price, the imei service cost me $50 and I paid to ship the phone there. Withing 1-2 days the phone was on its way back and works great. The seller also said I have a guarantee on the service. I gave it to a family member and they have been using it, all good so far. When I check the imei it comes up as a Korean Galaxy S5. Before this I figured they may have swapped a imei of some other model phone

Per discussions, until shown that what this company is doing is legal, we're not going to allow links to it. -Admin DrPizza

Aren't you basically admitting you've bought, and now found a way to use, a stolen phone?

IMEIs don't just get blacklisted. The phones either get reported lost/stolen or you people run away from carriers without paying the ETF (and therefore stole the phones from the carrier). While I'm sure legitimate misunderstandings happen, I'm not sure I'm ok with the ethics of this service.

No I am not saying that. I bought it from a girl who bought it and after a few weeks it was reported lost or stolen, obviously an insurance scam. I would not willingly buy a stolen device. Either way it is an option for people who get burned on buying a used phone and I would use it again for sure

Do you get full LTE?
I read some of the shops (craigslist) might use IMEI from flip phones and only get 3G or blacklisted again after a while?

I wonder how they get IMEIs of Korean Galaxy S4s.

Just FYI, it doesn't matter what the reason for blacklisting is, changing a phone's IMEI number is illegal in most countries in the world unless you replace the whole logic board.
