Awesome, great news. The only thing I worry about is carriers locking phones to their service. That being said, if the resale value of stolen phones goes down, less phones will be stolen, which is certainly a good thing.

Aside, it is pretty easy to check the ESN/IMEI of VZW phones here: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/estore/certifieddevice/cd

It's stupid difficult to find, but I use it all the time when I'm flipping phones online. It works.

Can you email me a screen-cap of the "messed up page layout" using Chrome?

shane@checkesnfree.com

As for the Verizon "check device" page, it does NOT show accurate results 100% of the time.

Its main purpose is to validate IF the device is a valid Verizon device, not if it's active or inactive, however sometimes it will show a notice to call if the device has been reported stolen, but not 100%.

did not work for me in ie9 on 64bit win7. i select iemi blacklist, type in my tmo phone, and the next page shows a blank area where the results seem like they should be.

i tried the site a year or so ago for sprint phones, but that didnt work well either.

The service wouldn't be free if we didn't have advertising.

I mean, you're welcome to call the carrier any and every time to check ESNs, and take a risk that the info you get from the rep is accurate, as many of the complaints seem to show a ton of inaccurate results when calling in.

As for any issues with IE, I tested with IE tonight and had no issues... 92% of our traffic comes from Mozilla clients and I rarely hear of anyone who has issues viewing or using the site.

I know Verizon & Sprint do, but will AT&T & T-Mobile blacklist for delinquent accounts?

I just want cheap phones. Not my problem if they're stolen. I always keep my phone on my person. This is more about insurance fraud than phone stealing though.

There is also a free ESN check tool at Swappa, which is a site you can trust. That is where I've bought our used phones, and the phones can't be listed for sale until they've had their IMEI checked. I haven't had any issue with the 5 phones I've bought so far.
