Has anyone seen a movie with this experience? Is it worth it?

thinking about seeing the new harry potter movie with this but it states that only the last fight scene is in 3D, the rest of the movie is regular 2D....

I like it alot. The film is polarized, and projected on two projectors, the glasses you are given make each eye see a different projector. That way you can see in full color. I liked it, I saw meet the robinsons.

did you have to wear the glasses for the whole movie or did they have a signal of when you should put the glasses on?

I'd imagine seeing 2.5h movie with tthose glasses would be really uncomfortable. but if the experience is so amazing, then I would try it once.

The glasses aren't that comfortable, but I bend the plastic or paper to fit my nose.

Not sure where you're getting that info from. Its the same aspect ratio as it is in regular theaters.

And no, you don't have to wear the glasses until the end.

I hope they're higher quality than consumer grade glasses. I had some of those LCD shutter glasses once, I think they were Hercules3D brand, for nVidia cards. The shutter speed was 60Hz, which is way too low for my eyes. I couldn't stand even a full minute of them without feeling a bit disoriented because of the constant flickering.

I was asking. Most of the IMAX film ports are cropped, P&S to use the most of the screen or the entire space of the screen.

They crop some of the sides off to fit the Imax screen, but not as much as P&S.

I saw Superman Returns on it last year. There's a symbol that pops up at the bottom of the screen to notify you to put your 3d glasses on. It did get me a little dizzy - especially the crashing jet scene. But I think it's cool to check out at least once.

On certain movies, its worth it. For me, since its only like 2 bucks more for a ticket compared to a regular night ticket. Too bad transformers doesn't seem to be coming out on it.

Only thing thats bad is that you usually can't keep an empty seat next to you as a buffer.

I saw Harry Potter in IMAX a couple of weeks ago. I wouldn't recommend it. The sheer size of the screen makes it hard to follow whats going on. Unlike a real IMAX movie, which always centers the action, in HP things were happening on the left or the right of the screen causing you to have to look in that direction.

My theater wasn't in 3D, that was a bumer too.

I saw Superman Returns in Imax3D. I didn't like it at all. I could see how 3D might look great with a simple animated film like Toy Story (or any Pixar or Dreamworks animation), with some action and a very "clean" look to the movie. Lots of fast action as well as dark textures and scenes makes it really confusing.

it reeally depends on the movie.

I saw some of the earlier demo IMAX movies, one called "adventure 3d" ????? or something....and it was amazing ! With some movies the effect is not that great..but i highly recommend it. I was blown away.

I saw both Superman Returns and the new Harry Potter in IMAX 3D and I wasn't very impressed with either of them. I think that the 3D is pretty confusing and I would have preferred both movies to be in 2D the whole time. I enjoy IMAX theaters more than normal ones so that's what keeps me going back; 3D is a gimmick for me.

Sony does not own IMAX.

Don't they have a hand in it though? Search isn't returning "Sony" in the wiki, but I could have sworn they made money off it somehow. If they won't make a penny from it then I'll check this out some time.

Sony has nothing to do with IMAX.

i saw the Polar Express in 3d when it came out, it was really awesome. its like the movie was made for 3d, with that roller coaster sequence and wild camera views (since it was animated).
