48 frames per second - This is double the standard frame rate and greatly increases visual detail.

its not 15fps. its 15 perforations per frame. a news website misinterpreted it and reported it as 15fps.
i'm pretty sure its 24, as this is what the actual imax website says, not 48.

Would be nice to see Matrix at 48fps though.
IMAX projectors are the most powerful in the world. The key lies in the Rolling Loop technology which advances the film in a wave-like motion at 24 frames per second. During projection, each frame is positioned on fixed registration pins and a vacuum holds the film flat against the rear lens element. When combined with IMAX 15/70 film they project images of immense size, sharpness and clarity.

You are correct sir:
check out this info
it makes sense... since I can DEFINATELY tell a difference from 30fps in quake to 100 fps and so forth... although slight movements at both 30fps and 100fps are similar, moving around really fast you notice the difference.
Fight scenes in movies IMO need more than 30fps, sometimes it's hard to tell what's going on (or maybe my brain is really slow, one or the other)
