The deal is that this product has had the same sku for the past 6 years. Just because the speed rating changes, the SKU does not. In fact, odds are that these CDR are probably manufactured much the same as they were years ago. You could probably burn these at 50x, we just don't have the drives yet.

so i decided to pick up some fuji film ones (taiyo yuden) cause i needed some. They had a sticker on the outside that said 24x which was covering up the original on the package that said 16x. So i get home and stick one in my lite on 40x. It won't go past 16x. It just seems weird cause i bought a few spindles of hp 16x (taiyo as well) and those will burn at 40x no problem.
now i have to drive my ass back there to return them

NO! It's just that free after rebate deals are very abundant. In the recent month I have purchased 250 cd's (generic and brand name), all of which were free after rebate. The deals for the most part have been posted here.
Ok party people, before I go out and get these, can someone tell me if they will be able to burn at 24x or not?
OK you might want to try this if there sold out of the 100 pack CD-Rs. I was at one store and just so happens my brotherinlaw was at other bestbuy location keep in mind. We were talking on the cell phone and we both didnt see any at either store while talking. But what they did have at both locaation was have the same CD-R brand but in 50 packs @ 32X. If you look close there $12.99 and you can still use the $10.00 mail in rebate makeing it $2.99+ tax for 50 or you can buy 2-50 Packs =100 for $5.98 and have a family member mail in the other $10.00 rebate. More then likley you can only use one rebat per address. But Im just assuming that. Make sure to have the clerk make you 2 rebates. So its only $1.00 more and you still get 100 of the same Imation 32X CD-Rs.
