A few days ago, I bought the new TDK MultiFormat DVD Burner. Popped it in my comp, and attempted to make a copy of a DVD I had on hand. Did a little research and downloaded a program called DVD Decrypter, and found out that most newer DVDs can't be copied on one DVD media. Thught "Screw that!", and promptly removed the drive.
Installed my old DVD-ROM that came with the system, and now neither my CD-RW or my DVD-ROM drives are appearing in 'My Copmputer'. They are being detected in the BIOS and in Device Manager, but they have the yellow exclamiation points next to them. The error is something like "The device driver was loaded for your device, but Windows could not find the specified hardware." I don't know, cuz I'm at work right now.
Specs:
P4 2.4GHz
512MB PC800RDRAM
1 40GB HDD (C)
1 120GB HDD (D)
TDK 52/24/48 CD-RW
Gateway OEM DVD-ROM Drive (Mashita?)
PNY GeForce4 ti4600
WinXP Pro SP1
(Got an 18" FPD too, heh
)
Already tried swapping jumpers from Master to Cable Select, tried to find IMAPI drivers, to no avail. Also tried 'System Restore', no dice. Tried running the 'Automated System Recovery', but I guess you need a floppy for that now? That is actually funny, because I tried to make an 'Automated System Recovery' floppy, but Windows tried to copy 17GB of info to a 3.5" floppy disk!
Someone, think of something! I'm all out of ideas. Already tried swapping jumpers from Master to Cable Select, tried to find IMAPI drivers, to no avail. Also tried 'System Restore', no dice.
