IMAP Outlook 2000 Problems

I have installed a new 3com IP phone system. One of the features is that the PBX has an Email server that utilizes IMAP. We are using Outlook 2000 and Exchange 5.5 for our email system.

The problem is that when you configure outlook 2000 for workgoups and not internet mail I do not see how you can add an IMAP account. Does anyone have any clue how this could be accomplished.

Does anyone have experience with a 3com PBX and know how to setup email forwarding to an Exchange Server?

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to just add it like any other account. Don't remember exactly where it is, but under one of the menus there should be an option to adjust email accounts or something like that, and under that you can add any type of account.

If I'm remembering correctly though, Outlook's IMAP support is kind of flaky.

Not under corporate or workgroups setup. You can add email but IMAP is not an option. If you setup Outlook for internet email you lose MAPI features such as the calandar. Outlook 2002 will let you do it with no problem but upgrading all the clients isnt an option.

Am I correct or just blind. Hoping I am blind because this feature was a huge selling point to buying this $140,000 system.

Sorry, I've been on Outlook 2002 for a while and forgot the differences between it and 2000.

This is the standalone utility from MS for profile administration in Outlook 2000. It might have addressed this problem, which was obviously addressed by the Outlook 2002. Again, it's a guess, just because it came out later than the Outlook 2000 did.
Give it a try, let us know...
Good luck :)
