Suppose SCOTUS nominees had to be confirmed by a majority of both parties. Not just a majority of the Senate as a whole, but of each party.

Yes, there would be a logjam of resistance at first. The Court may even be reduced in size for a while due to vacancies that aren't filled due to bickering. But eventually, would the person submitting the nominations be more inclined to select candidates more worthy than the last three stooges?

Well the funny thing is, except Roberts, any of the recent Republican nominated judges (not just the orange monkey, but 1 pick by both Bushes), the were by party lines. Low 50 votes for confirmation. Obama's picks still by party line, they at least got more than 60 votes. Most prior got 90+ votes. So is it the system or the choices by a certain party causing the issue?

You're in favor of this policy in March of 2021?

How about no.

If this were enacted in 2000, there would now be 3 judges sitting on the SCOTUS. Both parties will never agree on any individual appointee. The problem is not the appointed judge, but the totally fucking corrupt Senators that think it is a fucking game as their wield their power.

The solution? Term limits for every single elected official. 6 - 8 years in any office, tops!

How soon they forget there were elected by us to work for us.

While Mitch is still in power, the Republican party demands that Democrats only select judges from the Republican list of federalists society approved candidates.
Solve that problem

That's a "meet in the middle" BS solution. When one side is fascists.

Mitch should be history, serves his two term and go the fuck back home to Kentucky. No one should ever hold office for 36 years, and if he lives will be there at least 42 years.

So let's hear your solution.
Solution to what, exactly? What I can't think of is a problem where the solution is "less experienced leaders." You realize that people like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders would be ineligible under your "solution", right?

Yep, and Feinstein among others. NO ONE should be a career politician. Not the president, not the local elected official where you live.

Experience? You mean becoming millionaires because they are bought and paid for by corporate and fat cat contributors. That's the fucking problem. Fuck the environment says the politician that owes his position and wealth to the oil industry. Fuck the environment says the politician bought and paid for by polluting chemical industries. Fuck the working man say the politician in debt to the CEOs that pay their workers minimum wage and fuck them over at every opportunity.

Or, we could understand that corruption is different than experience.

If we were going to fix something, it would be ending corporate donations to political parties, and candidates, and limiting personal donations to some small amount.

That would fix much more than term limits would.

Legalized bribes in the form of "donations" is the main corrupting influence in politics. It's why the USA puts corporations ahead of the average citizen.

The problem is the same as its always been: The People.
The People are stupid.
The People are ignorant.
The People are lazy.
The People are apathetic.
And because of all that, The People will continue electing shady assholes who make promises they cant keep, and who will pander to their fears and their lesser virtues, like greed and pride.

Until The People get their shit together nothing will improve. They will support and defend the shady assholes forever. And its mostly because they dont know much history. They dont know this shit works in cycles. Things get good. The People get complacent. Somebody moves in and takes over and makes lives better for themselves at the expense of the people (in the 20th century it was corporations) and they treat The People like shit for a long time, using the politicians as tools, The People get angry, fight back, host a revolution, and the whole fucking process repeats itself.

We need to focus on teaching thorough history to our kids, because that's how you break the chain.
Right now we are at the very beginning of the bad times. Americans are weak and fearful, rather than think for themselves they listen to bullshit propaganda all day, they act on the bullshit, and its gonna be getting much worse before it gets any better.
Our grandparents would be sad if they could see all this.

The minority party does not have power. Problem solved itself.

Not a fan of that image. I expect there are RWNJs using that graphic and blaming the current mess on weak men (mamby pamby democrats) and the need for a strong man (Trump) to bring back the "good times".

It fits their narrative perfectly.

Thats actually the least Republican-centric image I could find. All the rest are clearly republican propaganda.
And like all republican propaganda its huge lies.

This time around, the great empire of America will collapse from the inside due to Rupert Murdoch and all the rest creating a false narrative about America itself, getting people to vote against their best interests, and ruining it all with stupidity. And its mostly because the Boomers had it way too easy and didn't pay attention to their nation, their kids, or the world as a whole.
Gen X and beyond will be forced to pick up the pieces after they die off.
