Imagine if China commited troops to the Iraq war!

We would have better luck in seeing god but...

Imagine if China's president got in touch with Bush and told him that China will commit 200,000-300,000 troops in the war with Iraq. Imagine our troops fighting side by side with the red army! :Q

And then imagine your an Iraqie soldier and you look out in the desert and all you see are 300,000 elite China warriors who are ready to kick some ass! Christ.. that would be a historic moment.

Oh well... it would be cool, but as I said we have a better chance in seeing god.

China has no way to get its ground forces to Iraq. Besides the Chinese don't give a crap about anyone but themselves, they just want to be left alone.

Lol.. they have no transportation? I think China has the means.

Oh, I guess they'll just put there troops on a wooden raft.

China has a very small navy, very small. The CIA reported they have about six ships in their entire navy, no air craft carries and no troop carriers. China has a 10,000,000 man infantry army - this army is to control their population of 1,284,303,705 people. If you want to have a communist dictator ship you have to have a way to control the people, and China has 10 mil. men to do this. China is not interested in going to war outside their borders. Period.

China was one of the main opposers to the use of force in Iraq. Mkes you wonder what the US would find there once they invade Iraq.

That's funny, because it was mainly China, the former Soviet Union, and France that led to the failure of UNSCOM and the Security Council back in 1992. They wanted to protect their interests and abandonded the coalition Bush Sr. had helped create with the international community.

Now you want to view them as heros for doing nothing... hmm.

If China joined the war in Iraq, I'd say there's a 99.99999% chance they'd be fighting alongside the Iraqis... and against US.

That's the reason the french oppose the war. Somebody may be able to document the illegal arms sales to Iraq during the embargo.
The french are whores.

If China joined the war, I'd say there's a 99.999999% chance they'd fight with the US and would be flying in on their hoverboards.

I love statistics. I've got one more "9" than you too.

a bit off-topic, but why is it that a lot of people on this board praise the chinese army and don't believe we could defeat them in battle? I feel otherwise. In this case, it would be quality vs. quantity. If there was an intercenine issue, american help could be the deciding factor.

If I say there is a 99.99....% chance that china will nuke Iraq off the face of the planet, does that mean it is 100% certain, or is there an infinitely small chance that they will not do it. 😀

there's a very slim chance of china joining the war, but i'd say you're 99.99999999% wrong and have no clue what you're talking about.

Sending out troops and fighting the war (pricey) is not in their best interest when they have nothing to gain from it.

well technically they would gain something... the question is whether the cost outweighs the gain or not. china has had problems with muslim extremists/terrorists for quite a long time... assuming there is a connection between iraq and terrorism (i have no clue, this is just what people tell me), china would be glad to see that connection cut.

Saddam in power in an Iraq with no restrictions is better for Chinese business than a liberated Iraq with the US running the show.

That's why China wanted to ease restrictions, dooming the inspection process. I'd say Vic has a legitimate point. Thankfully China won't get involved.

China gains nothing of substance. They gain much more by their mild opposition to US actions and by staying out of conflicts in the Mideast. I think that behind closed doors they are getting a good chuckle out of all this.
