Why is some secret arcane technology always used for evil in conspiracy theories?

Like if we had mind reading chips, whoever patents that shit and brings it to market (never mind all the other products that these chips could control) would make absolute bank.

Like, I could finally control my TV with my brain, that would be awesome.
Sadly, with me, it's still the other way 'round.

It is not a secret, BCI have been around for a while.
i have just spent too long googling the "Business Continuity Institute" in the hope that it wasn't a dry as dishwasher committee.

IT WAS VERY DULL!

Brain computer interfaces do not do what you claim in the OP!

After kidnapping you, do they . . . you know . . . probe you? If so, count me in!

Controlling our minds is more valuable than reading them, and is actually easier to do, don't even need chips. Not everyone is susceptible but a big majority of the population is. The main method is via propaganda, usually on government funded mainstream media. Create a fear, then sell the solution, and you can get the masses to agree to anything you want.

You don't need the best minds of the world for this.
What? Designing a chip that can read minds, designing a chip brain interface, being super good at kidnapping people, being super advanced at brain surgery (which actually is as hard as brain surgery)?

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

It already exists, there is tons of neurosurgeons around the world.

Maybe steal it from the military or something like that??
So the military have a super secret chip that they developed to be way ahead of current day knowledge in several areas of science.
In secret.
And then you go in and steal it, from a presumably inexplicably unguarded military installation.
Then presumably kidnap the entire medical team that knows how to implant the thing.
Then go back for the electrical engineers who know how to connect to the thing and decipher the data into a computer usable format.
Then go back, to the now unbelievably inexplicably unguarded compound, to kidnap the scientists that can convert that data into something that we can understand.

And after that go back to writing slightly shit self pity alt right stories or general trolling on the internet?

Simples! I'm convinced!

Well, I believe that it has happened.
