Ooh boy it would be so much better, wouldnt it???

Seriously, get a Mac or something to keep yourself occupied. 3 Ghz on a CISC Pentium 4 with an 800 MHz FSB, etc is more than enough to level the playing field (and then some) with ~1.5 Ghz RISC PPC chips on slower platforms.
 
Is it actually possible to buy decently high end powerPC chips directly from IBM or motorola as an end user? A dual PPC970 rig running linux would be pretty sweet!
 
I hate Mac's, but I'm just curious as to how microsoft is going to handle the different coding style.
