imaginary DVD drive.. ?

the good thing is that i figured out why i've been having trouble with all the mp3 ripping stuff i've installed in the past few days......

the bad thing is that the problem comes from an imaginary scsi controller and an imaginary DVD drive attached to the imaginary scsi controller. Though the AXSAKI SCSI controller and AXV CD/DVD SCSI CdRom Device do not actually exist in my computer (yes, i'm completely certain they are not real), the show up in my device manager, dick manager, explorer, etc all show these devices as existing.

sooooo.. i've checked all the properties, etc and it doesnt appear to be a virutal device (though i havent used a virtual drive in a long time and don't remember what their location information looks like).. but i am pretty sure the the OS thinks these are actual peices of hardware.

any idea how to get rid of them?

thanks for any advice...

select them under the hardware management...and delete them?

thats what i do to get rid of hardware
but i dont have imaginary hardware....or i dont imagine that i dont have hardware that exists... 🙂

i've got nero... i have also been trying to install and use audio catalyst and exact audio copy.. it is problems w/ these 2 programs that sent me looking for the culprit and stumbling on extra drive..

and i've already tried not deleting the hardware that i don't imagine didnt exist........ it comes back when i restart or rescan. 🙁

..........

yeah, I had that problem, too, except mine was with the Virtual Clonedrive from CloneCD. now I can't even get EAC to identify audio CDs in either drive, but at least its detecting my REAL cd/dvd drives now...

think of any hardware that has to do with CD/DVD Media, and check if they have any virtual drive options.

google the name of the controllers and such, see what comes up.

Out of curiosity, what purpose do those virtual drives serve? I have one from CloneCD too, but have never understood its purpose.
