I n-th the motion to take care of this. Someone's going to start injecting Flash, Goatse, or 0-day exploits if this keeps up. People are already screwing up the HTML and I can't even adblock some of these images.

The reasoning there is sound. Good response from the mod.

But for purely aesthetic reasons, I think everybody should quit whining. If you don't want to see 'em, turn off sigs.

Font colour, however, changes nothing except it looks "nice".

Take a look at the Neopets forums and tell me that's still true. Everyone has a billion different colors there and although it fits the theme of that forum, it does not fit this one.

You have an extremely good point, there.

I think I'm not digging the colors/fonts in the sigs. i DO like to read sigs, especially mod quotes, so turning OFF sigs is not the answer i would be seeking.

yesterday someone had a box in there sig that crashed firefox when i rolled over it. fix the damn code already.

That's the least of the problems.

So what are the extents of these exploits then? Is it really that detrimental to the forums security?

I?m just asking, as I don?t know

Jason Clark has been online now for a while, I think they are fixing it. 😀

Looks like not yet - see DainBramaged's signature here. 🙁

edit: Oops! That was quick. The "Drama" graphic is gone now.

if someone demonstrates how they can exploit and alerts you to it then kudos to them.
it's much better than the alternative of not letting you in on it.

There are ways to communicate to the Mods that do not entail sticking ones neck out.
By demonstrating the exploits; you may be endangering the complete community.

The problem is that the exploit is not limited to the signatures only. At the moment, it's in the signatures because that's the only place that someone can "show off" the exploit, without letting anybody know how it works. If someone actually put the code in to their message, somebody else could just quote it, and then everyone can find out. It's only a matter of time.

OTOH: if they ban the people that currently have used the exploit then, hopefully, nobody else will get to find out. But then again, there is the word of the mouth, and somebody could have the information in their head. I think, whether they ban the persons or not, this forum is going to go down in a fireball, because of the chaos that will soon follow.
