Image Magick

Anyone use this? I set up some photogallery script for my site, and one of the options is to use imagemagick for autothumbnailing and stuff. But uh, how do I set up imagemagick? This is confusing 🙁 😕:clock::camera::brokenheart:

You just install it. It's a collection of a bunch of command line utilities. For thumbnailing it probably uses the "convert" utility.

yeah, download and install it. My pic hosting site (see sig) uses image magick.

Hmm, install it eh.. What's all this stuff I read about compliling and such? Im such a newbie 🙂

Edit: So I can download precompiled binaries. Is that what I do? Which one do I download? I think my host uses linux, so I get that one? Huh?! 😕

If you are not the one running the server, this is how you do it:

Call or email your server admin. Say "Is ImageMagick installed on ym server?". If he says "yes", you are done. If he says "no", then you reply with "Could you install it for me?" and hope he says yes: Most webserver admins don't have a problem with installing stuff like this.
