I need to make an Image Machine for my work. Basically I will be plugging in a HDD and making an image of it on the machine. I used Ghost and Drive Image but I was wondering if there was something better out there? I also need it to work from boot, so it doesn?t require going into windows.

Thank you.

Acronis True Image makes you a bootable CD, works great for imaging to/from both FAT and NTFS.

ghost is the best imaging app i have used. The enterprise version can be set up to run a ghost server where you can actually drop the image to the server through the network and restore it right through the network. it also can do a multicast where you can drop and image to multiple workstations simultaneously. Friend of mine is a network technician for a training company and this is how he sets up all their classrooms. Helped him setup a class last night dropped an image for an outlook class to 18 workstations simultaneaously through the network. took about 12-15 minutes for the whole process. His ghost server has a terabyte of storage and literally contains hundreds of different images for different classes and hardware configurations. He can even sit in his office and multicast to a classroom 50 miles away in a different city through their WAN. A must have tool for every Network administrator supporting blocks of identical hardware configuratuions.
