Can you give specifics?

Are we looking at images of finicial documents (or court records, anything that can't be simply word processed usually b/c it contains a signature..,) or blue prints, general documents, photographs? It makes a huge difference. I work for a large company, and I know we have a document image archive library that is very large, and takes extensive amounts of resources to maintain. It all depends upon what you are looking for. What I would suggest if you are looking for something in the way of achiving blue prints and large files like that, talk to someone from EDS. I did an internship awhile back with them and I remember at the time they were using so damm software to image and archive numerous prints from GM. Unfortionatelly at the time all I got was a bare min. of an explination, as that was not the project I was going to be implimenting.

Good luck

Thanks...

For now, we are just thinking of storing Image file. Meaning Jpeg file mostly. From there, it will be access internally and probably in the future, be access externally too from the net.

We hope that the software can auto generate thumbnails. What we do is just put the image in to appripriate settings, and there's it goes. User will just do a search or select by category.

Your idea about document library, i am particullar like it. Maybe we could implement it in our company too. Can you give me more information regarding the hardware requirement?

Does all these recomendation can do this following?

a) Operator Friendly. (Image files will be transfer from a CD to harddrive and then sorted according to category. Therefore, what the operator do is to just in the Operator Software, choose ADD picture function and it will let u choose the category and stuff).
b) Generate Thumbnails automatically. (Generate Thumbnails by batch after operator finish adding all files)
c) User friendly. (User do a search by category or name. Just like windows search that search not only file name, category but also image reference that is written by operator)
d) User will access in the intranet and internet through browser interface.

you see, our initial objective is just to do an image library containing just Jpeg files.

But now, we are looking into a document library (digital) which would convert scan document into word files for storage or just simply scan it for storage. you can expect 50 50 documents would have signiture on it. I really have no idea how to handle the signiture part.

ACtually, i would rather our internal works and documents are process electronically, but i have no idea how they can sign on the electronic documents. And are doubting the security of it.
