Image Burning, need help!

Ok, I have a Liteon 24x burner, and a Pioneer DVD drive on the same IDE channel. I can copy files from cd's manually with windows explorer, but no matter what program I use, on either drive, It will not read to an image file, it stays stuck at 0%. I really need help, burning through explorer is slow, and a pain. Any ideas?

now..this image file

what does the filename end in? (i.e. what's it's suffix?)

are you sure it's not just a bad image???

i'm not following

are you trying to MAKE an image or BURN an already existing image?

with nero, do you drag all the files over and then click on the burn button and then check the box that says "create image" ?

well, you could try doing what i said above and create an image...then take a second step and choose "burn cd from image" or whatever

not quite as quick, but if it works, it might be your best bet

how about copying on-the-fly i.e. w/out writing an image to the HDD?

I'm still unclear on what you're trying to do. Are you trying to copy a cd? Are you trying to "create an image". You say you are trying to create an image, so you want the .bin or .iso file on your hard drive right? Or do you want the .bin or .iso to be stored on a blank CD in .bin or .iso format? If you are just trying to copy the cd, use the burner as the source drive with Nero. Make sure that the place it will temporarily store the image is on a drive with enough blank space.

If you are using windows XP, you might want to go to control panel, administration, services, and disable the cdrom burning service, it's useless if you are using nero, and plus is makes nero open up slower. Also, you might need to download the newest ASPI layer/drivers if you
are using winXP.

Don't know if this would matter or not, but try toggling DMA for the burner and see if that fixes the problem. Let us know if you are still having troubles.

I am trying to get an image file onto my hard drive from the cd.
How to I get to the DMA in WinXP?
and what service is it, exactly?

I only use Nero now. To create an image of a cd, you have to change the cd burner from your lite-on to the image recorder. Then select which drive you want to copy from. Works every time. Just don't forget to change back to your lite on to copy the image back to a cd.
