iMAC Help Needed

I've never used an Apple product. The kiddies in school are using iMACs. My wife helps out and says theres no reset button and no ctrl-alt-del etc. She says these things look like just a monitor, no box. Is this one of those things with all the parts in the monitor housing?

What do you do when they freeze?

If she is talking about the old CRT iMacs there is a small pinhole sized hole in with the ports that you insert a paperclip into to reset the iMac.

Also, ctrl-option-power or option-command-power (power being the right arrow button at top) rebooted some macs at one point in history. Also there is a recessed button by the USB ports.

If a mac freezes and you have a usb keyboard, you most likely can't use the keystrokes to reboot since the usb driver is frozen too...you have to press the little reset button the side of the case using a paperclip or a pen to hard-reboot it. Dunno why they make that button so small as it's the most useful button.

hold the power button down for 10 seconds and it will turn off

edit: if they are freezing you probably dont have os x, i highly recommend you some how upgrade the machines.
