They are not an authorized apple dealer. Check apple.com for a list in the 'where to buy' section. Refurb? Used? Who knows.

wasn't apple going to cut their prices on the imacs soon anyway b/c of the release of the new 17" lcd imac? or does the original price of $1399 already reflect the $100 price cut.

Yes, they reduced the MAP by $100 but I wouldn't order from this place.

They and Expercom have no resellerratings. The fly by night concept comes to mind. Free miles with each purchase.

And all those gray market shops in NYC that say "authorized XXXXXX dealer" are really authorized dealers. Many places say they are when they are not. I did email them about it (the store, not apple). No reply yet.

As for the $100 price drop, not yet. And its not really a price drop. ITs a reduction in the MAP (minimum advertised price). So the dealers will lose the $100, not apple. We should see this price change any day now as its hit the UK already.

I'm not sure this is such an amazing thing... At my work, an Apple Authorized service and sales shop in San Diego, we ALWAYS beat prices (sometimes a couple hundred different on big orders), and we don't charge shipping on most computers... Apple, catalogs, and chains of electronics stores HAVE TO SELL at retail, but independed authorized dealers don't. That's why we always beat prices. So, uh, don't buy from a big place -- find a small one near you, or out of state. :) They'll hook you up.

siclithat...

As soon as the new powermacs are out (August 12th?) I'll be deciding what to get (dual 1ghz) or whatever they have out there that fits my need/budget. I don't know of any shops around here that are official dealers, and likely they won't deal much. Any chance your place does business with people in CT?

Yeah, it really wouldn't be much of a problem... Theoretically, there's this Apple rule about not selling to people you haven't met in person -- ie, no phone or web sales for retail places. But, well, yeah, it would be fine. Only thing is, it's just a summer job for me, so I'm going back to school in a week!!! Which sucks, because I got 4 preorders for iMac 17's,and they're coming in after I leave. I'll PM anyone who wants it our stores contact info... anyone there can help you.

You should probably figure out why, Igo. As you are the new owner of my iBook (pending payment).
