Whew! I'm only getting 4-5 hours of sleep a night. I make up the majority of my rest on the weekends since I'm off from my midnight gig. I'm doing this so I can buy a laptop, pay some bills (in debt) and pay my rent from Oct-Dec. I'm doing student teaching this fall and thank god this is my last semester.

My job:

Pumping Gas: 56 hours a week- $9.50 per hr $450 a week
Midnight security: 40 hours a week- $9.40 per hr $300 a week.

So I'm taking home $750 a week.

As I stated it's only for the summer. Both jobs are very low skill so I really don't need to concentrate much when I'm at work.

I sometimes miss the days when I worked full time for the post office. I was making $18 per hr. and had benefits. But I hated the job so I quit and went back to college. I just hope it's worth it.

:)

Whoa dude - be careful, burnout sucks. I was pulling 60+ hour weeks at one time, and it sucked hardcore. I can't even fathom 96  Good luck - at least you know you've actually EARNED the money :p

Oh that's right, New Jersey has weird law that there is no self serve gas.

I remember pumping gas when I was a kid at the Esso station my Dad worked at.

Would also check the oil, wash the front window and check the air pressure of the tires too.

What job that you like are you shooting for after you complete college???

I'm a special ed major. I was checking out some of the openings near my home. Near my home they have openings for preschool instructors. $42k a year and with full benefits. Not bad for beginning instructors.

I think I can handle 3-5 year old kids. :)

If I'm not able to secure a preschool job then I'll probably aim towards a job as a resource teacher in a elementary school.

handling 3-5 year old kids are much better than handling high school students...so much drama.

What about food costs? You will be taking home a lot less than $750 if you eat out for lunch and dinner.

I work around 60-70 hours a week over the summer making $12.50, the hours are long and the work takes some thought but I enjoy pay day.

Well when I made the decision to go into education I decided that I didn't want to teach at the high school level. I like working with young disadvantaged children. I was also a special ed student when I was in elementary school. I know what it's like to be told that you'll never amount to anything. I know what it's like to sit in class and watch my peers excel in class work while I just sat there confused and afraid to ask the teacher a question. It's awful and hopefully I can make learning exciting.

I guess only time will tell. :)

I bring my own food. But yes, if you take out gas/food/wash I'll make less than $750 a week. Maybe I should eat at my parent's restaurant more often.
