i bought a used sony ericsson c905a phone off ebay for $10 listed as for parts only. looks like it can actually turn on, but the "fastport" connections is loose and i need to rubberband the plug to actually get it to charge. tried connecting it to my pc but i'm getting a device not recognized error, seems like the port is crapped out and may need to replace it. i'm not even sure why i'm doing this. i guess i have nostalgia for my last non-smartphone device... I also have another C905A that works perfectly fine except that the vibration no longer works and the wifi doesn't work either.

i just got a brand new galaxy s4 too...

Because you are a geek like the rest of us. Kinda makes me want to look for an Audiovox Thera on eBay now.

Droid 1 A855 is on emulator duty for me.

Old phones are still powerful enough for some gaming.

I just spent an hour disassembling the C905A. It looks like the "fastport" plug's bottom 2 pins that are used to charge the phone are completely corroded and not making contact with the main board.
i'm suspecting that the w518a that i also received has the same problem.

I was able to yank the entire port off the mainboard and it looks like i can just swap it with the replacement piece when it shows up. I will have to solder it on though it seems. my question to you guys is, how do you solder something that has multiple pins like this?
this is a picture from the service manual. the big circle is the entire port in question, the smaller circle is where it makes connection to the mainboard

i've yet to find a phone that takes better pictures than my Sony Ericsson C905A. It even has a xenon flash!
