I'm very dissapointed in my Audigy 2 zs

A couple of days ago I bought an Audigy 2 zs. I have Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra speaks. I have to say, that I'm quite dissapointed. The soundcard sucks. I am coming from soundstorm, from my asus a7n8x ultra 400 board, and the soudn quality is unacceptable.

I don't understand, this is supposed to be the best soundcard on the market. Why does it sound like crap. The bass is not as crisp as soundstorm. The treble is all wacketness. I don't know wtf is wrong and how people could say this is the best soundcard ever. Compared to soundstorm, this is horrible.

I went to configure my speakers and it does the polarity test or w/e. It said the polarity on some of my speakers were wrong, and they are not, I tripple checked. What's more, after I fixed what the tool said was wrong with my polarity's it sounded like %^&$! I bought this card because I used 5.1 sound and using soundstorm rendered me without a decent mic for teamspeak. Is my card configured wrong? Does your audigy 2 zs sound like crap too? wtf!

Man, I thought nobody would ever say this out loud. Yes the Audigy line sucks, plain and simple. You should try out the Chaintech AV-710, or even the E-MU 0404 for some audiophile quality sound.

Hmmm... the Audigy isn't the best souncard out there. For games, i heard they are pretty good, for music, it pretty much blows.

Try the EMU 0404 for music or even the chaintech.

I've had problems twice with mine after changing drivers, and mp3's sounded VERY bad. Make sure you have all the newest drivers and console stuff installed. Go into the EAX console and uncheck "enable audio effects" and "enable CMSS 3D". I can't remember any other important settings which might cause quality problems. Mine was also having the speaker config problems. Once you get it working correctly, it sounds very good.

No, I mean seriously. This %^&$ blows. It makes me so angry, I spend 100 dollars on a sound card and it's steaming piece of PCB crap. I mean, the interface is so damn confusing. Wtf, I don't even know wtf I'm doing half of the time and everything I do makes it EVEN WORSE.

Soundstorm was a blessing compared to this beast, and by beast I don't mean a great soundcard with good features and a solid GUI. No, I mean like... god damn it all of the words that come to my mind are just LOTS OF PRAFANITY! :| So mad I almost want to *sniff... cry 🙁 I am disgusted with this Audigy 2 ZS! :disgust: *RAWR*

Soundstorm was just so good, I mean. I thought I wouldn't notice a difference from soundstorm, maybe a bit worse, but at least I would have a working mic. Now after trying to fix it my speakers constantly echo and I don't know how to turn it off. $%^&!

All I wanted was to be able to have nice sound out of my beautifull speakers, and play games happy. But no, someone had to take a crap in my pci slot, and why look, it was audigy....

I bought an Audigy 2 to replace my Sound Blaster Live!. I returned the audigy in favor of my SB Live! because it sounded just as good and bettter in some cases when playing things like music or watching DVDs.

Just return that POS Audigy and buy the E-MU 0404. It's $99 and sounds like $500. And to think, Creative made both cards.

Just god damn it! AHHH!

My problem is as I explained above I need to be able to use my sennheiser pc 150's for teamspeak. The mic I was using was the one that is embedded into the skull of my webcam, and as you can guess, it's a piece of crap, yet suprisingly not as crappy as the audigy 2 zs is /shrug.... Interestingly enough, the mic port on my audigy 2 zs doesn't even work. I tried changing everything with no luck, even mic's. Nothing. So after experiencing the horror that is the audigy 2 ZS, I just need a decent soundcard for mic and headphones purpouses. %^&$ the audigy 2 zs, I'm done with it. *brushes off his shoulder*

I wan't to keep the klipsch 5.1's on the onboard sound because , It's the best quality I have heard, and it is easy to use. Also it doesn't have the added benefit... errr handicap, of it's GUI freezing and crashing all of the time like the audigy interface.

And Baked, I will not buy another Audigy product again. After purchasing this, If I ever buy another audigy product again, someone kill me.

Sound Storm does sound better (lost it when I went to an NF3 board). If you do what loafbred suggested, it should sound like 500% better. The digital effects that sound like crap with any type of music or DVD.

What I am saying is that your Audigy card cant possibly be that bad unless either the card itself is fvcked up or there is another issue. Tried RMAing it?

Shrugs. Ditched the soundstorm in my NF2 for an Audigy 2 and I haven't looked back. For analog use, the Audigy 2 is superior to any Soundstorm solution b/c of the crappy DAC motherboard manufacturers use.

As suggested earlier, disable several of the default options that color the sound (ie. CMSS, EAX, etc).

hmm...bought an Audigy 2 ZS today and I am more than pleased with its sound quality. Hehe then again Im coming from on board.

I tend to agree with some of the others that it may be some sort of bad card or setting problem. I have been using a Audigy 2ZS for abit over a year now with ProMedia 2.1s and it sounds great. The software has never crashed or given me any other trouble either.

My Audigy2 ZS sounds better than the Soundstorm did on my A7N8X. Not LOTS better, just better. I'm half deaf anyhow, but it sure doesn't sound as bad as you are describing.

I've used both with my Logitech 560-Z's and Altec Lansing ATP3 (best 3 piece IMO ever made 🙂), never had any problems you described. All in all they ALL sound the same, but the Audigy 2 was MUCH better for gaming. IMO Sound Blaster 5.1 value is all you really need.🙂

If the card is not the fault (seeing how you said the mic isn't working), then you are the fault (if the cards is good and you just can't find the correct place to plug the speackers and mics).
By the way you talk about it you seem to have come here with a BIG bias against anything not Soundstorm, so you picked up the card everyone seems to have but also love to pick on. Just like everyone likes to complain about Microsoft, Intel, and anybody else that holds more than enough on market share compared to their competition.
So if the card is OK then you don't have a clue what you are doing (said it so yourself) so ofcourse it will sound bad. But that's because of those 2 posibilities, and not because it's not Soundstorm. So get over the fact that you won't have your soundstorm anymore, try to find what it really is the cause and get back to doing what you do on the PC.

Anyways, are those speakers digital or analog. The way you connect those to the card differes a lot depending on this, and sofware is configured differently also.
