Okay, so I've vowed to to spend any non - necessary money until feb. 10th so that I can save up for a new video card. I just want your alls opinion on cards. I do have a few requirements...

It has to be AGP, 256 bit, preferrably 256 megs (128 will do), and it be under $350. What I would really like is this
http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=14-127-149&depa=1
But since it's PCI express I can't get it.

I'd really like some suggestions. Thanks! BTW...ATI or Nvidia doesn't matter to me, they both of great current gen cards.

Yes, keep an eye on the Hot Deals forum and try to get a 6800GT. If not, a "plain" 6800 for $250-275 is still a very good card.

No I can't buy until early febuary, when I get my dead MSI K8N Neo Plat. back from MSI and I can go back to running on my A64.

I saw this on halflife2.net. If they took paypal, then yes I'd buy one. But I also have to save up money to buy one too, and by that time the price could go down.

Asus makes a 128 MB version of the 6800 GT, although its GPU clock and memory clock are slightly lower as well. It goes for just over $300.

I've heard it's not worth the price. I'd rather have a 256 meg 6800nu....but of course they ALL have to be pci express

I just got that card in the mail today, actually. I'm getting 3500 or so in 3DMark05 with no tweaks or anything, so you can decide what you think of its performance.

Damn, that's a good deal! I might have to send my Asus card back to Newegg and pick that up instead...

Anyways, I just ran 3DMark05 again, and the score was 3681 when I stopped the benchmark.

I'm graduating high school on may 29th, and I'lll probably get ~$3k. I'm going to buy an iBook and use the other 1500 for upgrades, so I will upgrade to PCI express, etc.... So basically I want a card that will tide me over until then, and I think a 6800 regular will do well.
