Im uninstalling Firefox

I can't believe how glitchy this sucker is... granted I am using the 1.5beta 😱

BUT STILL! It crashes at least every hour. I can't download the latest version of the beta w/o uninstalling what i have for some reason. Ive really tried hard to see the appeal of Firefox, because of how much people rave about it, but I have to be honest with myself. It sucks. Im gonna give opera a try, and if thats no good Im going back to good ol' IE.

it was a fit of frustration that inspired this thread. Ive calmed down a little now. I realize it's a beta, but regardless it sucks even for a beta. Now Ive got Opera running. Im already liking Opera. Seems nice and smooth running, a little slow maybe. Takes about the same amount of rescources as firefox. Im trying to figure out how to move all my bookmarks over though (w/o having to do it 1 at a time)

Maybe try a non-beta version?

I can't remember the last time my firefox crashed, not sure it even has. I'm using 1.06

🙁 shoot, I got used to not having any ads... and I can't figure out how to get rid of them on Opera. maybe I will heed ya'll advice and try a non beta version. 🙁

Beta is for people who know what they are doing.. you are obviously not one of them 😉

Yes, please use the official releases.

Opera is free now . . . no ads in the latest version . . .

. . . anyway watch out for 1 thing: FireFox still tends to "lose" bookmarks [although the latest build seems OK] but overall is quite stable.

If it were not for the Bookmark Toolbar, I'd be back to IE. There are too many little quirks with FF. I'm using 1.0.7.

File --> Import and Export --> Import <your browser> bookmarks

You'll have to export them from FF though.

Opera 8.5 doesn't have a banner ad. If you're referring to Flash ads, there is an AdBlock for Opera, but even I will admit FireFox's implementation is superior.

Seriously, just install 1.0.7

Seriously.. I haven't had any problems with Firefox, just a few poorly made extensions.

My FF does not have an Export option.

I am using FF 1.0.7 and have no trouble. I also use the Noia Extreme 2.95 skin and it makes the browser look awesome. I have switched back and forth between IE and FF in the past six months or so, and have always ended back up at FF. IE is the one that crashes all too often--I have never had FF crash on me. FF also has the superior download manager, not just tabbed browsing, which I don't even make use of.

Of course it does.

I don't even use the browser and I know that.

Bookmarks --> Manage Bookmarks --> File --> Export

Gotcha, thanks. I was looking under the basic file menu.

Three things I diagree w/ the OP:

1. FF sucks (not if you spend some time learning how to fully utilize it. you won't be able to browse w/o some of its convenient extension once you start using them)
2. Opera is slow (it's one of the fastest, if not the fastest)
3. Opera has ads (not anymore)

I use IE, and for me its much faster than FF, im not using a popup blocker, I rarely, very rarely get popups.

really, it just comes down to you being able to maintain your pc.

FF crashes on me all the time but I don't mind -- I crash nearly everything I touch =P Should have seen me in the good ol' WinME days. Whee!

Try Avant Browser. I think it has a bigger footprint than FF or Opera, but I like it. It has an adblocker, pop-up blocker, and you can disable Flash, ActiveX, etc. I have FF installed also, but I use Avant mainly.

Just the thought of going back to IE scares me. FireFox blows all other browser away. Get the official release and browse happy.

I don't care for Opera all that much.....I think the email and NG modules are inferior to separate stand alones. And all the extras are in my view, fluff. It *is* faster than FF though. There are a couple of websites I visted a couple of months back that measure the speed of a browser loading a number of packages. Opera kills FF in speed.
