I'm trying to make my computer a loud mofo!

Hello guys,

Just today, I got a great idea to make my computer a lllloooouuuddd one. I already have one Tornado for my heatsink, so why not even make it MORE louder.

Before I ask my questions and state my plan for you guys to revise, here is the equipment that I have right now, (that would at least be critical to knowing how to do this)
-Antec Trueblue 480W PSU
-Thermaltake Dream Case
-And I already have those arctic silver GPU sinks, and I have that Vantec card for cooling my video card.
-I already have a 92 MM Tornado on my processor.

Alrighty, now that's it's done.... (And no, I don't want to break off fins to make it loud; that is just irritating!)

1) Despite places where it's obvious, I can fit a 120x38 fan where normally a 120x25 would go, right? Like in the back, I have spaces where I can fit 10 more mm.. I can fit a 120x38 fan there, right?

2) I want to get this fan [Link] --- But I'm not sure if my power supply will sustain it? Will it? And this won't disrupt fan controllers, will they?

3) What is the loudest 120x25 fan out there? I know that Delta doesn't have the loudest one for 120x25, because I saw a generic one that had better.

4) Is there any inexpensive fan controllers that have only 2 knobs? I have an exsisting fan controller with 2 knobs, but I'll have 4 fans total. So I only need 2 more knobs. It can be 3.25 or 5.25, i don't care. I have enough room.

5) My existing fan controller is 3 pin. If I get a 4pin to 3 pin converter from svc.com for my tornado, will it still work with the fan controller?

6) And all fan controllers will work with all fans right? As long as the pins are right?

you could run a couple 60mm fans. those are quite annoying since they spin at higher rpm.

I figure it might be a cool project. I guess it's the same reason why people do dry ice cooling and case modding.

Arrggh, say no to 60 mm fans!!
 
Put another tornado fan on the side panel. Put a blow hole in the top and mount yet another tornado there. Replace the fans in the PSU with tornado's too, or equally loud fans... If you're not using all the optical drive bays, get some hard drive coolers, or mobile racks, and install those too. Those [mobile racks] ARE loud sons of biatches.

With all those high rpm/db fans, you'll get one cool running system... Of course, you'll need ear plugs in order to be in the same room with it, but that's YOUR problem...

Keep in mind, each item you install that's the same db rating increases the sound level by 3db. Every 10db increase is 2x the noise of the previous level. Hence 40db is twice as loud as 30db. 50db is four times the noise of 30db...

Look on frozen cpu's site... I think they might have some that are ~45db for that size... Most [sane] people are looking to decrease the noise level inside their case. Which is why the larger fans are also [mostly] quieter than the smaller ones. Also, the larger ones can push more air at lower rpm than the small ones so they don't have to work as hard to do the job.
 
use fast spinning 120mm fans
i have seen some with crazy CFM ratings... a 120 will waste any other fan almost regardless of RPM 😛 (kidding but you get my point)

120 can be LOUD and it pushes a LOT of air! 🙂
 
Drill holes in all the fan blades, while you at it break a few off to make it really unbalanced. It should be sufficiently loud enough to make you want to shoot yourself in the face.

P.S. Congratulations on the worst/dumbest idea ever.

he's right. break off a couple fan blades to make the fan spin unbalanced. this will make it go crazy loud, louder then any available fan u can buy. i know because i accidently did that once.
 
Simple. Place some of your wiring is close enough to rub on some of those fan blades. It'll sound swell and you can change the pitch by slowing down or speeding up your fans!
 
Lmao skybum, yeah that's kind of like the tape a card to your bike spokes or run over a pop can to sound like a car trick.

Seriously....living with loud noises when you are young means you will be gradually going deaf. It's not a fun thing at all. Please reconsider your dumb idea.

I hope it's not in the same room you either watch tv in, or try to sleep in... That would be annoying as all hell to me... I [like most people without severe mental defects] try to make their system as quiet as possible without sacrificing cooling... That's probably the largest driving force behind processor/system cooling advances...
