OK...I've poured over the many, many threads debating the virtues of one monitor over another. In doing so the concensus of the forum becomes quite evident - both Sony and Samsung produce excellent monitors. I've narrowed my decision down to two particular monitors:

Should I purchase a pre-owned (but still in original box) Sony E400 for 340.00 (plus shipping), or....
Should I get a new Samsung 900 NF for 430. from Onvia.

Thanks for your help.

You can get the 900nf from onvia for 370 with the 40$ coupon.. I would go for the sony still though.

hmmm...tough choice. my vote would be for the Sony (i have never seen the samsung but from everything i've read and in talking to people who have own them they also say it's a great monitor), i have this monitor and it is tough to beat; vibrant bright colors and very sharp picture (trinitron tubes rock!)
i upgraded from a viewsonic ps790 which is a fine monitor in itself but the Sony blows it away
I would say if you are able to pick up the Sony and inspect it yourself for any defects; that's what i'd go for; but you really couldn't go wrong with either one, it really comes down to personal preference as monitors are very subjective re: which is better. Go see both for yourself and decide which is best!!

Here is my vote for the Samsung. I have the 17 inch version and I LOVE it. It looks perfect and so so flat. The colors are vibrant and the picture is crisp. If i put a picture of a flower or something on it it looks like the real thing! When I saw the flower, my jaw just dropped. That's how good it is!

Samsung 900NF hands down. Specwise and pricewise, both goes to 900NF. The 900NF is suppose to be competing with Sony G400, not E400, because its no competition. Not to mention the E400 is pre-owned, you never know whats wrong with it.
