I'm thinking about taking a cruise...

I've got two weeks of vacation left to use up this year, and while one week will probably be devoted to moving, once I find a place, I've been starting to think about using the second week to go on a cruise.

I've never been on one before, but last night I just got struck with a sudden desire to be out in the middle of the ocean, far away from the city lights, where I could actually see the stars.

I don't really want to do anything else, though 😛 just sleep all day and stargaze at night. lol. my only caveat is that it'd have to be something that left from the east coast since I'd rather not have to fly to get there.

I'm leaving on my first cruise next Saturday (07/14). 5 days out of Jacksonville to Key West and then to the Bahamas. I can't wait!!! 😀

Good luck on your choice.

If only Night Crew was still active 🙁

The air would have been thick with jokes about gay cruises 😉

I'd go on a gay cruise 😛 but I'm not really into random hookups and stuff.

and while I adore Rosie, I don't really like screaming rug rats and lumberjacks 😉

Which one you want to go on really depends on what you're expecting. Princess has the best food (short of the $$$$ ones like Crystal). Carnival, and the like, probably have the best nightlife for younger folks.

I went on a Norwegian Cruise Lines one in Hawaii. The food was subpar, even the ones you had to pay a cover charge for. Everything else was just ok. The shore excursions (ie. experiences OFF the boat), were the most memorable. I probably would have been just as happy hitching a ride on a cargo freighter or a fishing vessel or something for a bit of a salt-of-the-earth character.

how old r u?

if you're under 60, you might want a cruise that bars old people.

avg age of passengers on a cruise ship is 50 :Q (princess line leaving NYC)

Please don't confuse NCLA with NCL - they are completely different entities!

I think the NCL cruises out of hawaii are run under the brand NCLA, with all American workers, with its pros and cons....I am sure Rubycon can give you more in depth details. 😉

Holland America or Celebrity have great cruises. Was on a few of them in the Carribean and they rocked! I highly recommend Half Moon Key island that's owned by Holland America AND Cayman Islands with swimming with stingrays. The stingrays was the best part of any cruise I've even been on!
