What does Quicken do that a spreadsheet can't?
Pull balances?
Nothing in particular but it does make double entry accounting a lot easier. A database is just a better tool for the job than a spreadsheet is.

I use mint for my cc and bank accounts. It gives me a budget and nags me about my spending and if there's anything unusual I get an email and phone notification. I still check it manually every day for fraud. That and credit sites. But I have never used a checkbook, can count the checks I have written in my life on one hand.

Mint.com is the single greatest platform for people to manage their finances. Having all you financial institutions visible in one spot is amazing, and it has the most intelligent system for tracking transfers across accounts. I started using it in my mid-twenties and it helped me pull my head out of my *** with my spending. The mobile app is great for keeping an eye on things when I'm out shopping, and it helped me find out my ATM card got skimmed before my bank even called me to ask about charges made in Mexico.
