I'm thinking about a new car around $30k - NEED YOUR INPUT!

I drive an Altima 3.5, as many of you know. I can tell you that I love this car, and I am very happy with its performance in every aspect of the car. Even though it's an automatic (I drive in traffic every day, manual wasn't my preference), it still has plenty of power and really goes when you need the extra acceleration. Plus I think it just looks very slick. But that's a matter of personal taste. I would give you my recommendation for the Altima 3.5 SE. 🙂

the evo 7 will be here, however the hp will somewhat be limited (definitely less than that of japan version). hopefully it can be modded
the sti, no definite words on that yet
the is300, it's 5 speed not 6 speed
the g300 and gs400, they don't have stick on these cars.... and unless you get a used one, i don't think they are close to 30k
the altima 3.5 se is a good one, though the interior is so-so
the toyota matrix... umm..... i don't buy it
the acura cl type s, not sure if it will still be here in 03, plus it's only 2 doors
the acura tl type s, will be redesigned for 04 (available in march 03), probably 3.5L, and maybe 6 speed as well
the nissan maxima, nice 6 speed if you can stand the look

A base G35 starts at $27k, and base doesn't mean stripped down to bare bones 😛
The 2003 Altima interior is getting re-done with better materials (direct from Nissan HQ).
WRX is getting a headlight make-over and will look much better (although the current look has grown on me).

Out of the cars you listed, I would go G35 > Tl-S > WRX > Evo 7.
The GS300/400 are nice, but waaay over $30k (new ones).

I'm really considering the G35, but I want the 6sp! 🙁

Basically, I want a car that's not too large, somewhat luxurious and powerful, yet still be able to take to work without coworkers getting a bad impression on me. And plus, a turbocharger kit is in the works for this car already 🙂

umm.... in the works.... well, usually i don't believe it until i see it. so many times already i have seen that some companies are working on stuff for certain cars, even the prototype is out already, but the next thing you know is they never release it or you never heard about it anymore....

any specific reason why you want 6 speed? i think i will like a 5 speed if it's just as fast, plus i don't think you will go into 5th or 6th that often right?

VW Passat would be my choice.. or teh VW Jetta VR6.

Personally of those list of cars I would take the WRX, IS300 and the Infinity G35.. however look into BMW's.. you can get a sweet deal on a 330i

I have the Jetta VR6...no biggie...I'd look at the Altima (my buddy has a loaded 3.5)....for the $$$, speed, and looks (I can live with the interior), the car is sweet.

If you want a 6 speed, you're gonna have to go Accura types-S series or SER SpecV. There are superchargers and turbo kits in the works for the SERs, that'll put them around 240HP

I think the WRX STi is 6-speed, but not positive.
