all my classes in college were 1 credit

I think it's pretty safe to assume your 1cr courses mean something significantly different from the normal meaning of 1cr, because at most places, 1 credit means 1hr/wk for a full semester or 2hrs/wk for a half semester. Most courses couldn't POSSIBLY be structured like that and work.

at my school it didnt matter how many hours a week you met, they were all 1 credit

i had classes that met for 1 hour 2x a week and classes that met for 3 hours 3 x a week all 1 credit

4 classes a semester = 4 credits = 8 credits a year = 32 credits needed to graduate

classes that met for 1/2 a semester were obviously 1/2 credit,

Weird! That's how my high school classes worked, but in college we use credit hours.

This is the one and only thing I've learned in this damned class - how to explain WTF you're majoring in.

MIS + CS + Business + CIS + Engineering + Amusing emphasis on interpersonal skills because they know they're catering to nerdly recluses = IST.

Essentially, a breeding program for consultants and IT management.

I thought it was "In Someone's Tushie"

MIS + CS = CIS BTW your equation was redundant, unless I am misunderstanding the acronyms. That said Engineering takes an extreme amount of time to learn and do well, it's best done as a bachelors, then grab something else after.

Business doesn't hurt if you are planning to be self-employed.

My wife from Japan actually graduated from the college of business in her college for her CIS degree.

2-3 pages double spaced or single spaced? If double spaced, that's a joke.

This, plus a presentation. Granted, the papers are SHORT (2-3 pages each). But they're such a fvcking pain in the ass. Gotta submit another paper by midnight tonight... I'm growing TIRED of this.

depending on the topic 2-3 pages should take you 5-15 minutes. I'm assuming of course by their brevity that the professor is not asking you to do a lot of research on the topic.

So your GPA was more or less unweighted? Did you have much leeway in what classes you could take to graduate? Seems like you could load up on easy classes and just coast.

what are the papers on?

Stupid sh!t that makes my head hurt. You see, this is one of those stupid, required, "Welcome to higher education, here's how things work" courses. No content. It's just a bunch of annoying self-analysis and "learning how to do research" bullsh!t. It's not hard - it's TEDIOUS and totally NOT WORTH THE FVCKING EFFORT.

Careful, all our enterprising college students in here are going to lecture you about how great college is and how much they're gonna make when they get out. I knew drug use and alcohol consumption in colleges was high, but sometimes I wonder what those crazy kids are smoking.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm taking a 1 credit hour class right now and it's harder than the 3 credit hour history class and the 5 credit hour physical science class I'm taking combined.

Most of them are researchless BS. A few of them, however... ECK.

And yes - they're jokes. It's still RIDICULOUSLY annoying to have to spend more time on this tiny little class than on any of my big ones. My 5-credit CS course, TAUGHT BY THE SAME WOMAN, has cost me exactly 15 minutes of time all semester... And most of that was spent installing the IDE

You can tell yourself that, but somehow I doubt many of the graduates go right into IT management. 22 year old IT managers... that'd be a sight to see.

They don't. But that's what the *INTENTION* is.

No, I'm just beyond that. It's CS101. In fact, most of the class is beyond that - but we have to take the baby steps to let the n00bs catch on.
