Right now I have an Abit BX6 R2 and a Celeron 300A (@300). I'm gonna put in a TB 900 (or 1 GHz if I can find it online cheaper than $400 cdn (200 us)).

What is the best AMD board I can get right now? I dont care to wait for a DDR board. Is there anything special comming out in like a week?

MicroStar K7T Pro2A, or wait two weeks for K7T Turbo(with RAID).

<<will this board support the newer 133 fsb tbirds?>>

Very good question, the answer is no. The newer K7T Turbo, uses KT133A chipset, will support 133MHz(allowing supreme overclocking as well).

Then wouldnt it seem a little more reasonable to get the K7T Turbo? When might it be released?

Nope this board only does 100mhz for now, But they should have 133 support soon because the new via chipset is a upgraded chipset that will fit in all current design, So expect an other revision for that board to add 133 support.

Yes, it will be available soon, thats all I can tell you, give it two~three weeks, if it still doesnt come out by the end of the year, go for Pro2A instead.

If your buying now the MSI K7T Pro2/Pro2A.
I'd wait for boards that can support the 266MHz FSB Athlon though.

I see that the KT7 Turbo has IDE raid on it. How much is this gonna raise the price?

I can get the K7T Pro 2A for $197 CDN. What do you suspect the price might be? $250 CDN?

nickburns,

Thanks for the link. I think I'm gonna order that 1ghz tbird there for $294.99. Would there be any way to find out if they have the blue or green core (copper/aluminum right?)?

I guess I'll just fire them off an email.

I dont know, but most of the higher end Tbirds are all copper. I know they have like a new color, which looks like pink/purple, but Im not sure what kind of core that is.

ah...

I think I'll make a poll for people with 1ghz tbirds. I'll ask 'em what color their core is.

edit:

They are talking about using copper/aluminun interconnects right?

If you're buying now then get the MSI Pro2A. If you're waiting for a couple weeks then wait for the Turbo.
