one of my friends once left cake for me in my apartment. I was really excited, till I took off the foil and discovered that it was literally just cake -- no frosting, just a chunk of plain cake.
 
Cakes suck for the most part, and that includes cupcakes. The occasional spice cake isn't bad if it's made right, but the typical cake is barely edible. Sugar in sponge form.

This is why the French were so pissed when Marie said "Let them eat cake." Everyone was all "yay, cake!" until they saw there was no frosting.

The cupcake craze has hit the backwaters of western Canada. This almost certainly means it is about to pop where it began, if it hasn't already.
 
I already know of a few donut places that are following suit, going down the "gourmet" route. The cupcake places i live near have been busy since they opened several years ago and doesnt look like its slowing down at all. One of them is right next to a womens fitness place. i should take a picture next time im in that area

Cake is all about the icing, the rest is just filler. :biggrin:
 
Georgetown Cupcake is overrated. Way too sweet for me. I wouldn't eat a cupcake from there even if it's free. Threw away 4 last time when my wife brought home 6, with her eating only 2.

Most of the time there's a big line from the tourists. TV fame makes $$$ in a tourist town.
