im stuck in HL2

I just started playing this game.. playing the single player. Im in some sort of a canal.

Im in some sewer or some facility with stairs and all, and ladders and water. (im not that far, im still onthe first level....or i dunno when the level changes).
There is this room Im in, there are electric circuits there, and a small passage into another connected room..where I find myself at the top...a ladder goes down three levels into lil pond of water. On the left side I can see another similar room..with a ladder and a door...but the whole left side is blocked by metallic bars that run all the way down to the bottom. At the bottom, there is a box which has some health in it. There are pipes running through the room from top to bottom. i think i have to go to the other side, but dunno how. I go down in the water there are 2 circular metallic bar doors under water, but cant open them....

anyone have any clue wht im talkin abt...and wht to do...

try this
"Enter the next room, and go down using the pipes.
This will make sure you'll find a wheel, which you can give a good spin, so
the water raises. When you did that, go back to the previous room, and kill
the new Man Hacks. Drop down in the water, and swim to the other room. Get a
good breath, then go down again and break away the planks, so the stuff will
start to float. With this, you are able to go to the other side of the room,
and follow the path."

ok...when you go down that HUGE ladder...you will see a bunch of pipes behind you...go walk on those and there you'll see a valve...go up to it and turn it (action key)....which will flood the room...allowing you to get to the other side

Drop down onto the pipes and open the valve. I don't remember the whole scenario but the valve is part of the 'puzzle' ... I think.

yes. took me a while to figure out also. didnt help that HL2 makes me nauseous as hell :|

In the second room with the pipes, jump down and try to find a valve dealy on the back of one of the pipes. Twist it and the rooms will fill with water giving you access to the room behind the bars.

EDIT: Nevermind, beat me to it.

yes. took me a while to figure out also. didnt help that HL2 makes me nauseous as hell :|

lol..seriously... for some odd reason it does the same to me if I play it for more than 20 mins.

You could start by searching the damn internet and reading one of the myriad of HL2 walkthroughs that exist. Or you could post in the correct forum, too.
