I'm still having bad performance in Advanced Warfare, is anybody else?

My 4ghz sandy bridge and 7950 @ 1100/1500 and I still get dips into 40's/50's especially when using exo movements

the worst maps are Riot, Instinct, Defender, and Recovery

some maps like Bio-lab and Terrace run fine

is anybody else on this forum experiencing the same?

i wonder if my cpu is not getting enough volts, I use the auto 4.0ghz setting in ASrock's UEFI

You got an AMD card. The game runs worse on AMD hardware, although it's running a lot better on my 290s in Crossfire than it was before. Make sure you got the latest drivers(obvious thing perhaps but people still forget sometimes).

Another thing is to check the pre-rendering shaders box in the options menu(graphics). It will help with stutter issues. The game isn't that well optimized(despite the hype), and this is one of those reasons.

The fact that you can even check that box means the devs knew that going in.

Only issues i had in that game was being enough of a fool to enable everything outside of AA and thinking the 2gb on my 770 was sufficient on my 720p t.v. With the Advanced shadow settings disabled performance was rock solid and that's with a stock clocked i7 3770@3.7GHz.

Its a stutterfest on a GTX 970. Single or dual cards. It gets worse on dual cards and the input lag is unbelievably terrible if vsync is enabled.

Er...a 2 GB 770 should very much so be sufficient for everything at 720p.

Not really. Performance is in-line with NV given the price segments.

What kills performance are AA settings. Try lowering those or changing the type of AA used from SMAA/SSAA to less demanding FXAA.

I have a GTX970 and the game runs butter smooth on it with all options maxed out @ 1440P. What resolution are you playing? The only taxing option is supersampling, but I see so little improvement over SMAA that I leave it off.

You're kidding me. My son is purring along on a i7-860 @ 2.8 with a GTX760.
Latest NV driver available. Not a stutterfest. Something else is wrong.
I'll install it on my rig and see what gives, if anything.

I do get stuttering in the campaign. Plus that really stupid idea of having to watch the cinematic over and over whenever you change video settings, sigh.

It's not about FPS per se, it's about microstuttering.

It's been bad for everyone, but at launch, it was basically unplayable if you had (some) AMD cards, it was all over the CoD.AW subreddit.

It has since gotten better.

Well with a couple dropped settings its enough, the 2gb has limited the settings i could use in Titanfall and when i tried out COD:AW there was serious issues with certain settings enabled.

There's already a boatload of games that came out this year that pretty much render 2gb cards damn near useless, either if their performance at higher resolution is garbage or if the 2gb vram pretty much handicaps what can be enabled.

FTFY

I have an apu and it just stutters all day long. low, high medium wutever. I know the apu isn't all that powerful but i do get good fps on low....the problem is the constant stutter.

Update. My son is getting hitching. Every few seconds he gets a momentary pause of about 1/8th of a second. His framerates are fantastic on the order of 65 to 120 fps depending on screen action. Advanced Warfare uses a TON of system RAM. On the order of 4GB or well above 3GB. Go to task manager and look at the process for Advanced warfare, look at it's memory usage and then go

I need to also check GPU memory usage. Loading MSI afterburner on his rig in a bit.

You guys should try out a frame limiter......

Stutter in this game is usually related to mouse acceleration. There are a couple of things you might try to fix it.

  • Remove all kind of mouse acceleration
  • Set the DPI of the mouse to 125hz in your mouse control panel
  • Remove "smooth mouse" option in-game
  • Remove V-Sync in-game

That's misinformation. I already have all of that - I always do, because I take those issues seriously - and it was like that from the beginning.
Secondly, the stuttering issues have been very wide and common. It's the game and nothing else. It's a poorly optimized game.

When DSOGaming named it as one of their top 10 optimized PC games, I stopped reading that site. Lost all credibility.

It is decently optimized, we all get good fps. The issue might the shader compilation running concurrently. The option to preload is there...if you want 5 minute long load times.
