If you're doing it "just to get some", don't. If you're doing it as an expression of love and a sign of commitment, go for it (as long your partner is doing it for the same reasons).

This other person may have thoughts or feelings on the matter that should weigh heavily on your decision.

DO IT only if you fall into one of these categories:
1) You place little value on sex, as does your partner. You are fine with recreational copulation with no emotional barriers. You have condoms handy.

2) You and your partner have either done it before or have been waiting for a "right time" to do it. You are emotionally connected and value each other's presence and feelings; In other words, you love each other. You have condoms handy.

If you're "in between" these categories or you and your partner are doing it for different reasons, DON'T do it. It'll just get messy down the road. I don't like promiscuous sex but I'm not against it; but it's nice to know that if your heart is in it, so is your partner's.
