I'm so sick of money

So cut way down on your expenses. Buy some health insurance and a bike, rent a small apartment, start eating more simply, and sell everything else.

I'm sick of the economy, the greed, the bailouts, the shrinking 401Ks, the begging for help when it was your own damn fault, stupidity, the stock market, job loss, cut backs, idiots, skyrocketing health care costs, and basically anything they have to say on the news.

Gas prices have come down, and that's the only one I am holding onto.

I have come to a point where I hate money. No matter how much I have its never enough. I wish there was a way that I could live without it.

im a broke college student. give it a shot.

a friend of mine said the other day "this is a great time to be in school and have a crappy part-time job while i live with my family...i have *nothing* to lose"

I am on short term disability...I make less money than a decent part time job would pay.

🙁 suckage.
That's normally ok because I don't have many bills. But my bro in law just found out that he is getting cut down to 32 hours a week. He normally works ~60. That means that him and my sis are going to be hurting for money really bad and I can't do much to help.
holy crap.

my brother in law hasnt had any income in 3 weeks. i hate seeing that kind of thing happen to family

Wow that's a lot of symptoms, maybe you should see a doctor. 😛

won the lottery didn't ya?

Inherit some money?

Pursue a hobby or do something regarding humanitarian.

sometimes i think it would be nice to just move out in the middle of nowhere and live off the land or grow/raise my own food. Or live in a less complex time.

I don't know that I could do it though, after having all of the conveniences I have now. If i hadn't known about the internet and stuff like that, it wouldn't be so bad i guess.

Yeah, I understand what you mean, I work 60 hours a week already and can't help myself to get every second of overtime possible. Its kind of silly really because i literally spend HALF of what I make, but money is one of those things that you feel you can NEVER have enough. I'm sure many ATOTers are in similar boats since most of use make decent money and have no social lives. I would definitely give up half my money to have some friends and a girlfriend, whats the point of make money if all you do is put it in the bank and sit around playing computer games for you little time off you get?

I'll be your friend.

gimme half your money. 😀

are you an attractive woman?

Other than gas prices not really mattering much to me personally (I'm a light user, even with my SUV) I'm right there with you.

you know what i hate? banks who think that charging you an overdraft fee for overdrafting is considered "overdraft protection". what the fuck are they protecting me from, having a positive balance in my account? oh, and let's just go ahead and take MORE of your damn money because you no longer have any... let's take money you don't even have yet...

assholes...

I've always hated money. The monetary system is a terrible system.

Barter? Although, it's kinda hard to fit a chicken into the coin slot of a pop machine.

You should see the things I have fit into a coin slot.

I checked out the first couple of minutes of this. I used to love this movie, haven't seen it in forever. Then I clicked on the getting John Candy's autograph link, and I cried a little 🙁

I used to think like this, until I realized that the bank is basically just charging you a fee for lending you money to keep your bills from going unpaid, which would be much worse. It's pretty standard to charge something for lending people money, especially on no notice. Don't be too hard on your bank- NSF fees are no fun, but it's not their fault your account ran out of money. For perspective, this coming from someone who had to grovel to his bank to get a couple of NSF refunded six weeks ago so I could get back on top. It wasn't the bank manager's fault I ran out of money, but he still refunded me $35. Being out of money is no picnic, but don't blame the one who lent you money for charging you for a service you asked for by not having the money in your account when the check cleared. Talking to myself here, too.

I used to think this way, too...in fact, for most of my life. But then I learned that the problem isn't in money, but in people. Money is just concentrated power, like crude oil. If you're unhappy, it's not because you have too much money. Maybe you miss the challenge of getting by when you were making less...maybe you feel guilty that you have nice things while billions feel lucky just to eat...maybe you feel that your money is meant to do something worthwhile, but you don't know what. But money is just an inanimate object that is neither good nor evil. If you have a lot of money but still feel empty, don't blame the money, but rather look for real solutions.

Leave $20 bills in random places. Mail a big Wal-Mart gift card to the local animal shelter. Walk through a parking lot and look for broken-down cars with baby seats in them and leave a folded neon orange flyer under their wiper with a $100 bill taped inside. Get more exercise. Take up new hobbies, especially ones where you can meet nice people- maybe a book club. If you hate your job, start making plans to get into another line of work. Don't be afraid to start all over- why hold onto a life of misery? Buy five copies of your favorite book and give them to a library. Go get that physical you've been putting off. If you run out of ideas, ask someone- there's always someone who could use some help.

The world is organized around getting, but true happiness comes from giving. It's not that simple, no, but we are social creatures, whether we like it or not, and we either hang together or hang separately. Enjoy your wealth, but enjoy others enjoying it, too. If it's any comfort, I think your being uncomfortable with having more money than you need is a good first step 😀

I hope this helps!

i think we all live slightly beyond our means

even the very rich claim they have no money. i think we become accustomed to our life styles
