I'm so sad. (Dog story)--Updated

I have two Schnauzers. The youngest one (She's three.) started getting these little bumps on her back that she scratched. Well, they started to get worse so she started to scratch them more. Now, they are infected and it's really bad. I took her to the vet an hour ago. They tried to shave off some of her fur, but it hurt her too badly. 🙁 Plus, he said it's really weird because the bumps have spread to all over her body. You can tell there's infection in the bigger sores, but the little ones are just little sores. So...he wants to biopsy the sores. Also, I had to leave her there so they could put her under to clean up all the wounds. It hurt her too much the other way. It's all going to cost like over $400.00. :Q 🙁 Luckily, they'll take payments. *Sigh* I feel so bad for my dog. I was a CNA and I've seen a lot, but looking at her sores literally made me sick to my stomach. 😱 Why do doctors and vets, etc...have to cost so much? 🙁 🙁

Just wanted to share.

Sorry to hear about your dog.

Doctors seem to charge a lot, but they also have to pay for med school et al... Add additional help and rent, and it makes sense.
Getting a car repair (the labor) costs about the same, and they don't have school loans.

I understand so well how you feel. My cat has cancer on the stomach and one is an open wound that looks awful and there is nothing that can be done 🙁

Sorry to hear that. I have a cat that is almost 16 years old and isn't doing that great. She's, I think, totally blind in one eye and skinny as a rail. 🙁 My animals are like my "kids".

*Sniffle*

Oh Hazel, my heart goes out to you!

🙁

I am an animal lover and hurt animals always break my heart. I have two cats and I hate it when they get sick. Vet bills are indeed ungodly expensive. I would love to be a vet, however for now I will have to settle with being a RN. Hurt animals are like hurt babies, they cannot tell you where it hurts. I will keep you and your pup in my thoughts!

thats terrible Heather....hope the little girl makes it through ok. and remember that vet bills are expensive, but not as expensive doctor bills for humans. it just sucks cause your pets aren't covered by insurance 🙁

My cat is about 11 years old, and one hint, dont have your cat on the pill unless you realy have to because that is the reason why she has cancer🙁

Thank you. I was a CNA and I can deal with people. But, like you said.... They can't tell you where it hurts and it hurts me to watch. 🙁 I couldn't be a vet because I'd have to look away every time I needed to do something. lol She has something wrong with her already. We're not sure what though. We have had blood tests, x-rays, etc....but they don't know what's wrong. If we don't give her a pill twice a day, she hurts and can barely walk. They said she has excellent hip and spine alignment and we should have to worry about arthritis at all, but we can't figure out why she hurts. 🙁

EDIT: Thanks you guys. 🙂 She's my baby! lol

Czar - The pill? As in birth control like humans or the pill for fleas?

<< Heather? That's your name? Hi Heather, I am Emily. My best friend is Heather.

Keep us updated. What is your dog's name?
>>

Hi Emily. 🙂 Yes, my name is Heather. My dog's name is Kiara.

Thanks, Harv and Garfang. 🙂

EDIT: Czar - I didn't even know they had birth control pills for felines. lol My cat has been "fixed" for several years.

Hope your dog gets better!
BTW CNA =? Certified Nurse Anesthetist?
It's definitely not a Cisco certification...

aparently they do, its used to stop them from.... whats you called in english... meowing like crazy, I wish I had fixed mine years ago, then this might not have happened.
When will you go and get your dog after the cleaning?

CNA = Certified Nursing Assistant 🙂

Czar - I am supposed to call the office again in 4 1/2 hours to see if they're finished. He said I shouldn't have to leave her over night. 🙂 And...I didn't know they had birth control for cats either.

Thanks. I just called the vet (an hour early...heehee) to see how she was. The doc was with another patient so I couldn't talk to him. She said to go ahead and call back at 5:00 to see if Kiara would be able to come home tonight.

*Fingers crossed*

First, best of luck for your canine friend. 🙂

You forgot to factor in malpractice insurance. :Q

Cheers!
